With the release of ARK Survival Ascended Scorched Earth finally here, many unique and DLC-exclusive weapons are available to try your hand at. One of them is the Flamethrower, a weapon that does exactly what's in the name and unleashes flames on your enemies, but offers a few more features that you should know about.

So if you're trying to get your hands on this weapon or want to know the benefits of owning one for yourself, then keep reading. Below we will show you exactly how to craft the Flamethrower as well as its varied uses in ARK Survival Ascended Scorched Earth.

How To Craft The Flamethrower In ARK Survival Ascended Scorched Earth

The flamethrower in Scorched Earth functions as a mid-to-long-range weapon, emitting fire from the front to ignite targets. Apart from its role as a weapon, it has additional functionalities, which we'll delve into later, but first, let's discuss how to craft it in the game.

To craft the flamethrower, you'll require a structure such as a Fabricator or Tek Replicator. Once you have access to either of these crafting stations, you can utilize the following materials to craft the Flamethrower:

  • 75 × Polymer, Organic Polymer, or Corrupted Nodule
  • 50 × Cementing Paste or Achatina Paste
  • 35 × Metal Ingot or Scrap Metal Ingot
  • 10 × Sulfur
  • 15 × Electronics

Now that you know the crafting recipe for the Flamethrower, let's explore its uses in the game, which extend beyond its role as a weapon.

How To Use the Flamethrower In Scorched Earth

As a weapon, the Flamethrower inflicts damage over time (DOT) by setting creatures and enemies alight. The DOT buff applies 9% damage to maximum health per second for 6 seconds. Reapplying the buff will reset the timer, resulting in no benefit until the previous stack expires.

The minimum damage is 12, while the maximum damage is 100. Considering most targets (dinosaurs) have over 1000 HP, the Flamethrower typically inflicts exactly 100 damage to tames, while causing variable damage to players. Additionally, the weapon's fire can penetrate certain structures like spike walls, allowing you to ignite targets as long as they are visible.

Lastly, the Flamethrower proves to be an invaluable tool for taming one of Scorched Earth's rarest creatures, the Phoenix. To tame it, you need to set it on fire, making the flamethrower an ideal choice if you lack a fire-type tame like the Fire Wyvern.

In conclusion, while the Flamethrower doesn't yield cooked meat when used on dinos, it offers numerous other utilities in the game. Now that you're familiar with its crafting recipe and usage, you're well-prepared to tackle the challenges that await you in ARK Survival Ascended Scorched Earth.
