Japan Game Designer Hideki Kamiya Confirms Bayonetta 4

On 18th November 2022, Hideki Kamiya, the acclaimed video game designer and creator of the popular action-adventure franchise Bayonetta, casually confirmed via Twitter that there'd be a fourth iteration of the popular game series.

This latest news follows what appears to be a response by Hideki Kamiya to a question posted by a member of the Q&A social network, Peing. The question, roughly translated using Yandex, asked Kamiya about Bayonetta 4's development, hoping to see more of an "active" Bayonetta in the next game.

The video game designer subsequently confirmed that Bayonetta 4 is in development. In their response, Kamiya stated that there are "unexpected developments waiting" and that fans should "look forward to it."

In addition, the video game designer said, "I didn't think it was unexpected at all, but it seems that the ending of Bayonetta 3 wasn't conveyed correctly to everyone, so I think Bayonetta 4 will be an unexpected development for everyone. After all, when Bayonetta 4 comes out, I'm sure there will be people who say, 'You added that as an afterthought,' so I'll say it now."

Following this statement, another Twitter user replied to Kamiya's Tweet, saying, "Bayonetta has always been characterized as a sexy, strong, charismatic, and indomitable character. Seeing her behave so submissively towards Luka, one subspecies of her dies one after another. It wasn't fun to watch. I feel like this changed the image of the character in a negative way." Followingly, Kamiya responded, "that's how it is for you."

Bayonetta 4 will supposedly convey a better storyline than Bayonetta 3.

So, what does this all mean for the Bayonetta franchise? Well, Hideki Kamiya is supposedly making Bayonetta 4, and it's coming in the (hopefully near) future, but it's partially addressing some of the issues it faced in Bayonetta 3.

The latest title didn't particularly do the greatest, with many fans complaining about the game lacking the iconic character's most esteemed features, like being "sexy" and having quite provocative but empowering dance moves, positive representation, and more. Fortunately, it would seem Kamiya's next game in the franchise will hope to fix these issues and make an even greater Bayonetta game.

That said, only time will tell until more information about Bayonetta 4 becomes apparent. Also, note that most of this information is roughly translated using Google Translate and Yandex; some text might be mistranslated, so take everything with a grain of salt. We will endeavor to update this article as more details become available.
