Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets delivered one of the most absurd individual performances in recent CS2 memory, posting a career-high 2.84 rating on Dust2 as Team Spirit dismantled 100 Thieves 13-0 in the BLAST Bounty Season 2 decider, booking their spot at the LAN Finals in Malta.
The scoreline barely tells the full story. donk opened the map with a 1v3 clutch, was sitting at 16 kills by round seven, and ended the half with a rating that scarcely seems real. As the primary source noted, it was reminiscent of how donk tore through the Major – Spirit’s dominance delivered without him even looking like he was trying.
Spirit’s Rocky Road to the Decider
The series was far from smooth sailing before that final map. Spirit came from 10-6 down to take Anubis 13-11, but then ran into a wall on Mirage – where 19-year-old William ‘sirah’ Kjærsgaard dominated the A site to hand 100 Thieves a commanding 13-4 win and end Spirit’s eight-map winning streak on the map. Boris ‘magixx’ Vorobiev described the loss as a “slap in the face” that snapped them back to focus.
100 Thieves had earlier turned heads in this tournament by taking down Falcons, giving Jack ‘Gizmy’ von Spreckelsen’s side real momentum heading into this series. magixx acknowledged as much, paraphrasing that Gizmy’s calling brings different situations and fresh ideas that can catch you off guard if you’re not at your best. Credit where it’s due – but then donk happened.
Spirit Head to Malta as the Only Top-10 Team Standing
Spirit are now the eighth and final team confirmed for the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals – and the only top-10 ranked team in the field, with other elite sides having been eliminated. As two-time Bounty champions, magixx put it plainly: whether Spirit win or lose at these events mostly comes down to Spirit themselves.
The Malta Finals will now serve as the next test of whether donk and company can flip the switch again when the lights are brightest – and given what just happened to 100 Thieves, the rest of the field has every reason to be worried.
