Conan Exiles: How To Skip The Intro Cinematic

Tired of having to sit through the opening intro every time you start the game? Learn how to skip them entirely in this guide for Conan Exiles.
Conan Exiles: How To Skip The Intro Cinematic

The opening intro or cinematic for Conan Exiles can be an excruciating experience many players have to endure, with no option to skip past them. As many players have expressed their anger at being unable to move past these intros and jump straight into the game, there is only one reason you’ll have to sit through them.

The main reason you’re unable to skip the opening cinematic is that it’s coded as part of the game’s start-up or client behavior, but if you wish to skip it, we have you covered. This guide explains how to skip the opening cinematic introduction in Conan Exiles.

How To Disable Intros In Conan Exiles?

While many games have allowed the players to skip them, like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt; however, some intros are just too enjoyable not to watch. But if you wish to skip the opening cinematic of Funcom’s survival game, well, you’re in luck as there are a few workarounds to solving this annoying problem that only works on PC as of writing, and head straight for The Exiled Lands.

Renaming Steam Config File

You can skip the opening intros for PC in Conan Exiles in a few ways. (Picture: Funcom)

The first workaround was originally posted on the Funcom forums before it was deleted, as it will require you to add a few lines which rewrite the game and automatically skip the intro upon starting the game. You will need to find the game’s files first to begin configuring the opening intro, which we’ve detailed below:

  1. Browse for the Conan Exiles game files on your PC by pasting E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles into the Search tab
  2. Look for the folder labeled “ConanSandbox” and explore its content
  3. Click on the “Config” folder to search for a file tagged “DefaultGame.ini
  4. Open the file and look for "bWaitForMoviesToComplete=True"
  5. Replace “true” with “false” before saving the file

This should rewrite the game’s coding, allowing the game to skip the opening intro every time you boot up. But if you don’t feel easy doing the abovementioned steps, there is another workaround.

Remove Movie Player Settings

Another way is removing a few lines of coding that directly links to the game's Movie Player settings. (Picture: Funcom)

This workaround was first mentioned in a forum thread on Steam in 2017 after players noticed that Funcom released a patch that prevented them from skipping the intros. One player provided the solution which allows you to skip the intros by removing a few lines of coding; you’ll need to follow similar steps to locate the files before achieving this, as we’ve detailed below:

  • Browse for the Conan Exiles game files on your PC by pasting E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles into the Search tab
  • Look for the folder labeled “ConanSandbox” and explore its content
  • Click on the “Config” folder to search for a file tagged “DefaultGame.ini
  • Find the file labeled “[/script/movieplayer.movieplayersettings]
  • Remove the following lines:
    • StartupMovies=StartupUE4
    • StartupMovies=StartupNvidia
    • StartupMovies=CinematicIntroV2

Once you’ve completed each step, save the file and boot up the game via Steam. Either of these workarounds should work; however, the second workaround has proven to be the best to achieve skipping the intros.

And that completes this guide on skipping the intros in Conan Exiles. We want to thank the YouTube channel Andrew Dawnbringer for the complete tutorial in-game, and please consider subscribing to their channel and watching the video below for more details.
