Cyberpunk 2077: How To Fix Audio & Crackling Sound Effect

After several delays, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally released and fans all around the world can finally play the game.

Unfortunately, the game saw a troublesome first day of launch, with a myriad of issues plaguing the game and making the experience of many players miserable.

While the game's world is absolutely magnificent, from a technical perspective the game is a complete mess.

The game has been released with numerous bugs and visual glitches, and some issues can even make the game borderline unplayable.

Players are also reporting problems with the sounds in Cyberpunk 2077.

Everything in the game sounds strange and echoey: enemies yelling faraway from you sound like they are next to you, background noises are either too quiet are far too loud, the voices of characters do not correspond with the surroundings, etc.

One of the strangest issues players are having with the game is a bizarre constant crackling sound effect which simply won't go away. Many are not sure if it is a bug or simply a bad audio design but everyone would like to get rid of it.

If you are here reading this article, then you probably know what we are talking about.

Well, it turns out that there is a solution for that!

At least for the PC players, we are not yet sure how console players can fix this.

Here's what you should do. And no, the solution is not in the game, but in Windows 10 settings.

  1. Right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your desktop (on the taskbar).
  2. Click "Open sound settings"
  3. Select "Output Device Properties"
  4. Select "Additional device properties"
  5. Select the Advanced tab
  6. Change your audio device quality down to 96000Hz or until the crackle goes away.

And that's it, this should do the trick! We hope that you will no longer be bothered with the crackling sound.

Besides bugs and glitches, players are reporting terrible optimisation on both PC and consoles, and often even the high-end PCs have trouble running the game properly. If you are having troubles with performance, you can try this FPS and performance fix for Cyberpunk 2077.
