After an unfortunate delay in its release last year, fans of the crime-fighting heroes of Gotham City will finally be getting their hands on Gotham Knights later this year after an official announcement from the WB Montreal team.

Needless to say, we are excited for the release of this gruesome and dark tale that's set to be told in a brand new way, and today we're going to look at all the details you need to know surrounding the release of Gotham Knights including its release date, trailer, features and more.

Gotham Knights is set in the city of Gotham (No surprises there) but after a major event has occurred. Both Batman and Commissioner James Gordon have been killed. And after his death, Batman issues Code Black, a protocol that notifies the other heroes ("heroes" is a liberal term here) of Gotham and informs them of his death and that it's up to them now to continue to defend the city from crime and disorder.

The game will be released on 25th October 2022, and with the end of the year looking quiet in terms of new releases, the game promises to make some waves upon its release. Being available on PC and all the current and last-gen consoles of PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The heroes, as mentioned earlier, are a group of Batman's former protegees called the Gotham Knights (Though we aren't sure if they call themselves this from the get-go). The Gotham Knights will consist of:

  • Barbara Gordon, a.k.a Batgirl, is the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, likely took up the mantle of Batgirl before her father's death. And has been trained under batman.

  • Tim Drake, a.k.a Robin, is the adoptive son of Batman and the Third person to take up the role of Robin in the comics.

  • Jason Todd, a.k.a Red Hood, is the second one to dawn the title of Robin, and after his death and subsequent resurrection, he becomes more of an anti-hero willing to do whatever it takes to eliminate crime in Gotham as the Red Hood.

  • Dick Grayson, a.k.a Night Wing, was the very first Robin and after his time under Batman, became a self-defined superhero known as Night Wing and fights crime with the skills he's learned under Batman and his own ingenuity.

Gotham Knights – Gameplay features

The gameplay of the game appears similar to the previous entries into the Arkham series of games. This involves a third-person brawler type of gameplay with fast pacing and the use of gadgets and different weapons to take down foes.

There will also be a stealth approach that players can take when they don't want to, or cant overwhelm the enemies with a flurry of kicks and punches. So sneaking around, knocking enemies out, and taking advantage of your environment will be a large part of the gameplay as well.

There will also be more open-world sections, it seems, where players can use modified motorcycles, among other things, to travel around the city and explore the world as they fight crime. Another great feature the game brings is a multiplayer mode, allowing a second player to drop in and out of the game without affecting the first player's campaign.

The game will also feature a worldwide leveling system, meaning that players will increase the strength of their characters as they level up, which will also apply to the world around them. So if you're at level five, enemies might have weaker or limited attacks, whereas if you're at level 15, enemies will become more powerful and use more attacks and special moves. We're quite interested to see how this will affect the gameplay once the game releases.

Gotham Knights gameplay features trailer details court of owls backstory
Gotham Knights will also feature a mysterious backstory involving the Court of Owls, an organisation featured in the comics. (Picture: Warner Bros)

There will also be an overarching narrative involving the Court Of Owls, a secret society inside of Gotham that has been there for years and watching from the shadows, pulling strings through indirect and direct action. The Court of Owls also has its own warrior faction called Talons which the player will most likely be going up against once they appear in the game.

There is also a theory that Batman might not be dead at all but simply went into hiding and faked his death to investigate the Court of Owls, as they're dangerous, and the Talons are more powerful than most enemies Bruce has faced before.

Gotham Knights – PC system requirements

Gotham Knights has stunning visuals and smooth-looking gameplay, so it is easy to assume that the game will require an adequately powerful system to run at minimum settings. Including a decently rated CPU and GPU with at least 8GB of RAM.

And that's everything you need to know about the upcoming release of Gotham knights in 2022. We hope you are all as excited as we are to step into the Knight this October.
