The time to be a Deep Rock Galactic fan is now. These days, there are plenty of different platforms on which you can play Deep Rock Galactic. If you are a person who prefers to play on PC, the option was always there but now you can play on Xbox and on PlayStation. This is exciting news for those who were waiting on a console release.

At the moment, there are fans who are currently working through the Season 4 content of Deep Rock Galactic. Fans are expecting to get Season 5 at the end of 2023. But until that time, players are interested in playing with their friends who recently joined on Xbox and PlayStation. Before you do that, you will need to know how crossplay works between Xbox and PC.

Does Deep Rock Galactic Have Crossplay Between Steam and Xbox

For those who are unaware, Deep Rock Galactic is a co-op shooter game that is available on PC and on various other consoles now. Most recently, the game came out on Xbox Series X which makes players wonder if crossplay works between the two platforms. The answer is, there is crossplay between Xbox and PC but with some conditions.

If you buy Deep Rock Galactic on Steam, you cannot crossplay with Xbox. You can only crossplay between Xbox and PC if you buy Deep Rock Galactic from the Microsoft Store. This is an unusual limitation as Steam is a major platform and one of the most popular ways to purchase games for the PC. But that is the limit that is in place.

One thing that players enjoy when making game purchases is to make sure that their saved data is accessible through all platforms so they are not stuck on a single platform. For Xbox and PC, there is cross-progression but not for Steam users. If you purchase Deep Rock Galactic on Steam, your data is stuck on Steam and cannot be accessed anywhere else.

The cross-progression only works if you buy Deep Rock Galactic on the Microsoft Store or on Xbox Game Pass. For those who are wondering, there is no crossplay or cross-progression for PlayStation 5 to Xbox or PC. PlayStation 5 players can only interact with others who play on the PlayStation 5 or on the PlayStation 4.
