After a relatively quiet November, Destiny 2 aims to pick up the pace with Bungie's 30th anniversary celebration event. With a new six-player activity and dungeon, fans will have their hands full until the Season of the Lost finale takes place and set the stage for the much-awaited The Witch Queen expansion.
Amidst all these major updates, Destiny 2's Christmas event, The Dawning, will also arrive in mid-December. Like every Seasonal event beforehand, The Dawning will be free to play for all Destiny 2 players. While Bungie has yet to officially confirm the concrete details about this year's The Dawning event, here's when and what we can expect from it.
Destiny 2 Christmas event: The Dawning release date

Every year, Dawning brings back the seasonal vendor Eva Levante, for whom players have to bake cookies and distribute them to the various Tower residents for seasonal rewards. During The Dawning, players earn the dawning spirit by completing missions, bounties and recipes, which can be exchanged with Eva Levante for more of those seasonal rewards.
No Dawning, which I figured. My guess is the following week? https://t.co/p8ulGUAqLs

As mentioned before, Bungie has yet to confirm when exactly The Dawning will begin this year though it seems it won't be arriving with the next week's reset( 7th December). As such, fans could expect it to start on 14th December (when the weekly reset happens) and stay till 4th January.
Destiny 2 Christmas event the dawning rewards

With Bungie currently focused on its upcoming 30th anniversary event, it could be until after that when fans start to hear what's in store for The Dawning. At the time of this writing, however, Bungie hasn't revealed what exclusive seasonal rewards this year' The Dawning will bring though we will make sure to update the article as soon as more information is available.
If last year's rewards are any indication, fans could expect new exotic ships, sparrows, Christmas themed armours and weapons ornaments and more. Last year's The Dawning also allowed players to earn a new legendary fusion rifle called Glacioclasm, and given how this year's Festival of the Lost also added a new legendary weapon, fans could expect something similar in the upcoming seasonal event as well.
