The Darkening of Tristram event in Diablo 3 gets underway on 31st December 2023 when cultists started appearing at 16:00 PST. On 3rd January 2024, at 16:00 PST, the portals will start to open.

How to Unlock Darkening of Tristram in Diablo 3

It is quite easy to unlock the Darkening of Tristram event in Diablo 3 and find the cathedral's location. First off, you will have to start a game in Adventure Mode.

Head to the Old Tristram waypoint on or after the 3rd of January. Now, head downward (South) and check your map, as you will see a Town Portal opened, simply called "Tristram." Enter the portal, and you will be transported to the old world of the original Diablo, with the cathedral looming.
