With DOOM: The Dark Ages just days away from its official release, fans are eager to dive back into the action as the Doom Slayer. However, as with any major launch, some issues are to be expected. Early access players on PC have already spotted a few problems, but fortunately, the developers have released a list of known issues along with potential fixes ahead of the game's full launch later this week.

DOOM: The Dark Ages – Official List of Known PC Issues and How to Fix Them

After players who pre-ordered DOOM: The Dark Ages got early access to the game, several issues were discovered before its official release. Thankfully, id Software was quick to address them and has since released a full FAQ listing known issues across all platforms.

These issues vary depending on whether you're on PC or console, with PC players facing more graphical and driver-related problems. Fortunately, the team provided detailed instructions for troubleshooting common issues. Here’s a breakdown:

  • Issue: If you're playing on an RTX 50-series GPU and enable G-Sync (with a supported display) or V-Sync plus Multi-Frame Generation through the NVIDIA Control Panel, the game may crash.
  • Resolution: Until a driver fix is available, the workaround is to disable one of these options in the NVIDIA Control Panel or enable them within the game itself if you want both options active.
  • Issue: On RTX 40 or 50-series GPUs, enabling Multi-Frame Generation or FrameGen may still show V-Sync as enabled, despite it being disabled.
  • Resolution: This is a minor cosmetic issue—the game disables V-Sync under the hood in these cases.
  • Issue: Alt-tabbing while launching the game can cause it to run in the background, making it inaccessible for users with NVIDIA GPUs.
  • Resolution: This is a known driver issue. To avoid it, refrain from Alt-tabbing during game launch. If it happens, restart your PC to resolve the issue.
  • Issue: Players with NVIDIA 50-series GPUs may experience TDRs or system hangs when starting gameplay recording using Shadowplay with Multi-Frame Generation set to 3x or 4x.
  • Resolution: To avoid this, either don't use the mentioned MFG settings or use a different recording application.
  • Issue: When capturing with OBS, game visuals may freeze when Alt-tabbing from full-screen mode.
  • Resolution: Until OBS updates, the workaround is to capture in Windowed or Borderless mode.
  • Issue: The game can lock up when manually resizing the window with FSR FrameGen enabled.
  • Resolution: Avoid manually resizing the game window with FSR FrameGen enabled.
  • Issue: Unplugging a second monitor during gameplay may cause the game to freeze.
  • Resolution: To prevent this, do not unplug any monitors while playing the game.
  • Issue: Running MSI Afterburner or RivaTuner overlays in the background may cause stability issues.
  • Resolution: Disable either application when running the game.
  • Issue: In rare cases, players using a supported PC spec, the latest GPU drivers, and Intel CPUs with model numbers starting with 13 or 14 may experience persistent crashes.
  • Resolution: If this occurs, you may have a corrupted CPU. Please contact Intel Customer Support at Intel Support.

Console issues are also present but appear to be less frequent than those on PC. For a full list of console-related issues and their resolutions, be sure to check out the complete FAQ. DOOM: The Dark Ages will officially launch worldwide on May 15 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
