PGL Bucharest: Everything You Need To Know
If you're a professional Dota 2 player, the majors are a seriously big deal. They carry huge prize pools and, just as importantly, confer qualification points for The International, which as we all know is the most prestigious tournament of all. PGL Bucharest – the fourth Major PGL have held so far – is the second tournament of Valve's Dota Pro Circuit. The prize pool stands at an impressive $1,000,000 and there are 1500 pro circuit points up for grabs. It's a pretty top-heavy split, too, with the pro points going only to the top four finishers. The lion's share of the prize pool will also go to those four teams, with a meagre £30,000 going to the 5th-8th placed teams and diddly squat to anyone unfortunate enough to finish lower. This is not a tournament you want to miss. Which is why it's good news that GINX will be broadcasting the knockout stages in their entirety!

The teams:

Heading up the list of invites, we have titans like Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid and TI7 winners Newbee. The qualifiers' names are less immediately impressive, but that does not mean we should write them off. After all, safely navigating a regional qualifier is no mean feat.

The format:

Swiss stage:

(March 4 - March 8)

The Swiss stage had just concluded and 16 teams have been whittled down to eight. After five rounds of play, the surviving teams are: VGJ.Thunder, Evil Geniuses, Newbee,, Team Secret, Team Liquid, OpTic Gaming and TNC Pro Team. Surprisingly, we saw the highly fancied OG bow out with a 2-3 record. The biggest surprise so far has to be TNC, with the Filipino outfit clinching a spot in the quarter-finals with a 3-2 record.
