A contagious disease-like condition (let's just call it a possession?) is spreading through Dragon's Dogma 2's pawns, and it might have already infected your main pawn or other hired NPCs...We are, of course, talking about Dragonsplague, which you'll want to spot and cure as soon as possible, before dire consequences occur.

Join us, Arisen, as we explain how you can spot Dragonsplague in Dragon's Dogma 2, possibly cure the possession, and what its biggest consequence can be.

How To Spot Dragonsplague: Are Pawns Posessed?

Pawns you hire through the Rift, as well as your main pawn, have specific inclinations that dictate their personalities. One of the first and most difficult ways to really spot if a pawn is infected with Dragonsplague is a change in their personality, and they become more aggressive and disobedient. If you give

The easiest way to spot a pawn with Dragonsplague is their glowing red eyes as you can see from the image above. They will also notify the player of feeling pain at random, signifying there's something wrong.

Dragonsplague does not show up on the Status tab of a character. However, the first time you hire a pawn with Dragonsplague through the Rift or your main pawn returns from another world with the ailment, the game will notify you as part of a Dragonsplague tutorial.

Sure, a pawn that doesn't follow your commands might be a bit annoying, and so can a pawn that is way too aggressive, pulling an Ogre into your party, for example. However, the biggest and most devasting effect of Dragonsplague in Dragon's Dogma 2 is a pawn going rogue and slaughtering an entire town of NPCs...

The developers did warn of a possible "devastating calamity" and oh boy, they weren't kidding. If Dragonsplague is not cured in Dragon's Dogma 2, and you just continue on with a pawn with this possession in your party, it could go rogue and kill every NPC in a town. This happens after a certain amount of time has passed with the infection and when you rest at an Inn. The pawn is automatically dismissed after the slaughter.

There's one of two situations that will happen. Either your main pawn is infected with Dragonsplague, or one of your two hired pawns from the Rift is infected. There are no items you can purchase or dialogue options that you can take to cure a pawn from Dragonsplague.

If your main pawn is infected, we recommend picking them up and throwing them in water, watching the brine consume them. Basically, kill your main pawn, and then resummon them at a Riftstone.

For your hired pawn, well, you can just dismiss them and hire a new one. The only other way a hired pawn can be cured is for the player in another world whose main pawn it is to kill their main pawn, then rest at an Inn.
