The upcoming MMO release from developer and publisher Funcom, Dune: Awakening, has been steadily prepared for the game's release, landing on PCs this year. As such, they released the Character Creator & Benchmark Mode for PC, which allowed players to create their character, which, once saved, can be imported to the game at launch and will receive a code for an exclusive in-game reward for The Frameblade weapon.

The developer and publisher confirmed in February 2025 the game's release date, which was scheduled for 10th May 2025, and reiterated that its PlayStation and Xbox release dates were to be announced soon. Recently, Funcom provided an update regarding Dune: Awakening's release on their official social media channels ahead of its next livestream, which was broadcast on their Twitch and YouTube channels.

In an official press release on 20th February 2025, Funcom "lifted the veil," announcing the release date for the upcoming MMO Dune: Awakening, which was slated to launch on 10th May 2025 for PC via Steam. While this also confirmed that pre-orders will be made live shortly for PC, for which pre-ordering the game will earn players a reward, the Terrarium of Muad’Dib decoration, the developer made an announcement delaying the game's release.

Posting across their social media channels on 15th April 2025, Funcom announced that Dune: Awakening will be pushed from its current release date of 10th May 2025 to its new launch date of 10th June 2025. This won't impact pre-orders as players have an extra month to pre-purchase it; the developer has stated that the delay gives the team "time needed to make improvements that will lead to a better gameplay experience from day one."

Funcom also announced that the "head start" launch will begin on 5th June 2025; a planned "large-scale beta weekend" will arrive very soon for players to participate in. This beta is reportedly scheduled sometime in May 2025; however, no details have been provided as of this writing, and we'll update players on how to join and beta dates and times once they've been announced.
