Prime Video will premiere Esports World Cup: Level Up, a five-part documentary series about the inaugural 2024 Esports World Cup (EWC), on June 6. Directed by Emmy-winning filmmaker R.J. Cutler, the series offers an unprecedented inside look at the tournament.

The series, produced by This Machine (part of Sony Pictures Television), will release new episodes weekly across more than 240 countries and territories. Additionally, showrunner John Dorsey will be joining executive producers Jane Cha Cutler, Trevor Smith, Elise Pearlstein, and Mark Blatty in bringing the documentary to life.

Level Up is shot in verité style and will feature the best moments of the eight-week tournament held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

"What drew me to the Esports World Cup was the compelling human stories unfolding within this high-stakes arena,” said Cutler. “Level Up isn't just about the incredible competition and prize money; it's about the dedication, the passion, and the sheer will of these athletes and teams pushing the boundaries of what's possible."

The series will bring key storylines for FAKER from T1, Soka from Team Falcons, Sanford from Team Liquid, Drazah from Atlanta FaZe, and Chel & Cinny from Team Vitality.

Apart from this, it will also throw a spotlight on Yevhen Zolotarov, the CEO of NAVI, and Mossad Aldossary, the CEO of Team Falcons.

“A win might make the headlines — but the real story is the people behind it,” said Ralf Reichert, CEO of the Esports World Cup Foundation. “Level Up dives into the human side of esports: the pressure, the ambition, the sacrifices. It’s about what it really takes to compete at the highest level — and why it matters. R.J. is the best at bringing those stories to life, and this one captures the heart of what we’re building.”
