Red Bull UK announced a new partnership with The NUEL in an effort to bolster collegiate esports across the United Kingdom for the 2019-2020 academic school year.
The new partnership includes workshops hosted by Red Bull at its Red Bull Gaming Sphere in Shoreditch, London, including an event called LANdon, which will serve as a collaboration between The NUEL and several universities in London.
This isn’t the first time that The NUEL and Red Bull UK have worked together, as the two partnered up alongside Riot Games during the Riot Games Student Summit, a day-long workshop that was dedicated to connecting and training the upcoming generation of “student leaders.”
Founded in 2010, The NUEL was created in an attempt to bring together university esports league from all across Europe to help create more competition in the region, as well as a European Championship.
Founder and Managing Director of The NUEL called the new partnership with Red Bull UK a “delight” to be working with Red Bull UK and is looking forward to “developing new opportunities to help students grow, build communities, and have fun.” Students looking to apply to Red Bull UK will be able to do so through their university society representative.
The new partnership comes only a couple weeks removed from Red Bull recently signing FGC champion Arslan Ash, the first-ever player representing Pakistan recently crowned EVO 2019 champion after a surprise win at EVO Japan 2019.
Clearly, Red Bull is making an attempt to bolster their status in the esports world and with partnerships like this, and potentially more to come in the future, it’s only a matter of time before Red Bull is known for more than just their energy drinks.
