Michael Owen is a rather strange player, unbelievably talented with an incredible peak to his career, namely in 2001 when he was awarded the Ballon d'Or.

If you are too young to remember Michael Owen was a quick and intelligent striker and a natural goalscorer. Few could strike the ball as cleanly as Owen and watching him wheel away after he jinked and weaved his way between defenders before cooly slotting it past the goalscoring was a common sight, especially in the eight seasons he spent at Liverpool, the club where he made his debut and his name.

His England career is perhaps where he will be most fondly remembered. For his ten years and 89 caps of service, he was an ever-present upfront and stands at second place in competitive matches, behind only Wayne Rooney, in the goalscoring charts.
