Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Shown Off At Summer Game Fest

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is officially coming early next year.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Shown Off At Summer Game Fest

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has officially had a second trailer released at Summer Game Fest, showing off what to expect from this newly changed world and when we can expect to play the game.

In addition to showing off the brand-new world outside of Midgar, they also gave a new release date. Instead of launching in 2023, it'll launch in early 2024 and will come on two separate discs, just like the original Final Fantasy VII did.

The trailer closed off with Sephiroth slashing Tifa, with the obvious implication being that in this new universe, Tifa will be the one killed by Sephiroth instead of Aerith. It's likely that this isn't how it'll happen in the final game though, especially with how much director Tetsuya Nomura enjoys playing with fans' expectations.

In a press release, Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kitase stated:

"We're honored to bring Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth to players around the world early next year. In the next installment of this thrilling tale, Cloud and his friends — both new and returning — will embark on a new adventure, so all players can enjoy this story, even those without any familiarity with the previous title or the original Final Fantasy 7.

The entire team has worked fervently with love and adoration for the world of Final Fantasy 7 to deliver an unforgettable experience for new adventurers and longtime fans alike, reaching new heights of cinematic storytelling, immersive and fast-paced combat, and rich exploration across a vast world. We can't wait to share more details later this year."
