Fortnite Ranked Is "The Wild West Right Now," Say Pros

The tale of cheaters, hackers, and poor sportsmanship is a common one in competitive games. Nearly every online multiplayer that has its own competitive or ranked mode also has its fair share of troubles, and Fortnite is seemingly no exception.

In Fortnite Ranked, numerous pros and streamers have voiced their frustrations over the amount of cheating and stream sniping they've encountered in matches over the last few days. One of Fortnite's most popular streamers, SypherPK, made their feelings known on X.

"The amount of teaming, cheating, and stream sniping happening in Fortnite Ranked the past few days has been the worst I've ever seen in Fortnite's history," SypherPK wrote. "I'm going to start timing my vacations when Epic goes on vacation because the past few streams have been rough."

Fortnite Ranked Riddled With Cheaters In Chapter 5 Season 1

The streamer highlighted that usually Epic are quick to ban any bad actors in Fortnite, but that reactions have seemingly been slow recently owing to the Holiday break. "It's the wild west right now."

Streamer and pro Lacy chimed in to SypherPK's post, saying, "It’s the worst thing I have ever experienced in my life and completely killed my desire to steams. Same 3 cheaters been teaming and full aimbotting on me for days and I’ve made 30+ reports..."

Fortnite isn't the only game struggling with a wave of cheaters. The Apex community have been up against the worst of it for a number of seasons, though Respawn are continuously working to mitigate the issue. 

Fortnite is currently in Chapter 5 Season 1, which began on December 3, 2023.
