Genshin Impact award weekly compensation for 2.7 update delay

Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse's announcement of delaying the forthcoming 2.7 update was somewhat of a surprise but expected news in recent weeks. While the circumstances surrounding the delay haven't been made public, the dedicated community were left in the dark about what's to happen next.

Recently, the developer provided an update, announcing an extension to some of its 2.6 content, including both Character and Weapon Event Wish banners and two events. But what has Travelers excited is the compensation they'll be receiving "for the inconvenience caused" due to the delay.

Genshin Impact 2.7 Compensation – Start date, free rewards and more

HoYoverse announced on 29th April 2022 that the forthcoming 2.7 update and its subsequent Special program livestream would be delayed indefinitely. Reasons for the delay have been speculated within the community, citing the growing rise of COVID-19 cases in China; however, the developer has yet to issue an official response.

On 5th May 2022, the developer posted to the official Genshin Impact social media accounts that Travelers are to receive free compensation in light of the update's delay. This compensation will be made available this month until the release of the 2.7 update, which they'll provide more news and updates once a date for the 2.7 update has been confirmed.

Starting 11th May 2022, Travelers will receive the following free rewards once a week until the 2.7 update:

  • Primogems x400
  • Fragile Resin x1
  • Hero's with x7
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore x16
  • Mora x120,000

You can claim the compensation by navigating to the in-game Mail feature every Wednesday at 4 am server time, in which this compensation will expire after 30 days. This compensation is available to Travelers with an Adventure Rank of 5 and higher, but you've got until 11th May 2022 to attain this rank.

Genshin Impact 2.6 content extended

Aside from the free compensation, HoYoverse has extended the Character Event Wish banner for Kamisato Ayaka as part of the 2.6 update's Phase III Events. During the newly extended period, Ayaka, alongside Razor, Rosaria and Sayu, will gain drop-rate boosts with end dates announced soon.

A Test Run trial event will be happening concurrently with Ayaka's Event Wish banner, which you can use to adjust party line-ups featuring the characters mentioned above to complete challenges and earn rewards. The rewards you can claim, depending on which character trail you've completed, include the following:

  • Primogems x20, Sakura Bloom x 3, Old Hanguard x3 (Kamisato Ayaka)
  • Adventurer's Experience x 6, Wolfhook x3, Damaged Mask x3 (Razor)
  • Mystic Enhancement Ore x3, Valberry x3, Recruit's Insignia x3 (Rosaria)
  • Mora x15,000, Crystal Marrow x3, Whopperflower Nectar x3 (Sayu)

Additionally, the Epitome Invocation Event Wish banner will also be extended, so you have more time to use the Epitomized Path to set a course of acquiring the 5-star weapons, Mistsplitter Reforged or The Unforged.
