Genshin Impact Expeditions guide: How to unlock, best expeditions, best characters for expeditions and more

Genshin Impact offers a profusion of activities that players can use to get crafting materials, food ingredients, character ascension and exp materials, Primogems, Mora, weapon ascension & crafting materials and other similar items. Among the many activities, we have one called Expeditions that players can do again and again to farm resources.  

The expedition is a system in Genshin Impact that players can use dispatch owned characters to get Mora, crafting materials or food ingredients.

In this Genshin Impact guide, we will discuss everything that you should know about expeditions. 

How to unlock expeditions 

The expedition system is unlocked when players reach Adventure Rank 14. Players can access the expeditions by talking to Katheryne, the receptionist of Adventurer's Guild. She is present in every nation's capital. You can find her in Inazuma City, Liyue Harbor and the City of Mondstadt.

Before you go and talk to Katheryne at any of the said locations, make sure the Statue of Seven surrounding the area is unlocked. Without unlocking the Statue of Seven, you won't be able to talk to Katheryne and send your characters on expeditions. 

How to send characters on expedition 

To send a character on an expedition, go and talk to Katheryne at any Adventurer's Guild. The dialogues(almost) and available options are the same between Liyue, Mondstadt and Inazuma Katheryne. 

Once you get past her initial dialogues, select the option that says "Dispatch characters on Expedition."

Depending on your Adventure Rank and progress in the game's story, you can select different nations, regions and characters to send on expeditions. 

• Players with Adventure Rank 14 or below can send only two characters on expeditions. 

• Players with Adventure Rank between 26 ~ 30 can send only three characters on expeditions. 

• Players with Adventure Rank between 31 ~ 35 can send only four characters on expeditions. 

• Players with Adventure Rank 36 or above can send five characters on expeditions. 

Apart from that, when you click on an expedition, you will get four options. Send characters on a 4h, 8h, 12h, or 20h expedition. The longer the expedition time, the more rewards you will get from the expedition.

Best expeditions to send your character on

Here are some of the best expeditions on which you send your characters.

• Inazuma: Musoujin Gorge

• Liyue: Dunyu Ruins

• Liyue: Guili Plains

• Liyue: Yaoguang Shoal

• Mondstadt: Dadaupa Gorge

• Mondstadt: Whispering Woods

• Mondstadt: Windrise

Characters with passive talents associated with expeditions

We have nation-specific characters in Genshin Impact. And, some of these characters have passive talents that allow them to complete expeditions in their nation 25% faster than any other character. Knowing about them will help you in optimizing your expedition runs. 

With that said, here are the current characters in Genshin Impact that reduce their own expedition durations in a specific nation.

• Bennet - Mondstadt 

• Fischl - Mondstadt 

• Chongyun - Liyue

• Keqing - Liyue

• Kujou Sara - Inazuma
