Throughout your journey in Genshin Impact, Travelers will likely find many instances where they are unable to continue their progress with a quest or a side quest in favour of participating in events for bonus rewards. While these quests get better as you progress, once its completed, Travelers won’t be able to repeat them.

Naturally, many Travelers are wondering how their progress and other data are saved in Genshin Impact? This guide will detail what Travelers need to know about Genshin Impact’s auto-save feature, cross-saves and how your progress is stored.

How does autosave work in Genshin Impact?

Genshin Impact benefits from its gacha model which requires players to be online to take a chance on their characters and weapons on their Event Wish or banner events. As such, it utilises an auto-save feature meaning no specific save points are needed to store your progress.

As with every action or choice, Travelers make in-game, it automatically saves your game progress. The saved progress is stored on one of miHoYo’s servers located in your region which Travelers can access whenever they’re ready to begin the day’s adventures.

Auto-save is enabled across the game’s multiple platforms: PC, mobile and console. For as long as you’re playing, the game saves your progress and other data automatically.

It is important to remember that if Travelers wish to backtrack their progress, replay a quest or side quest, the only other method is to create a brand new account. This may feel tedious but if Travelers are unhappy with their progress after completing a quest or side quest, it should be done at their prerogative.

Speaking of platform game saves, Genshin Impact does support cross-save meaning Travelers can carry over their progression from PC to mobile and vice versa. It was only recently added to the PlayStation platform in the 2.0 update as Travelers can take their adventures from PC or mobile to PlayStation and vice versa. All Travelers need to do is link their miHoYo account and follow the prompts.
