GTA 6 is in development hell and behind schedule, insider claims

The long-awaited sixth instalment in the legendary series is experiencing serious issues according to a recent report, severely impacting Rockstar's plans for GTA 6.
GTA 6 is in development hell and behind schedule, insider claims

GTA 6 is arguably the most anticipated video game of this generation, with tens of millions of fans eagerly awaiting any news about the next chapter in the beloved franchise.

And while not even officially announced yet, everyone and their mother knows that Rockstar has have been working on GTA 6 for several years now. After all, there is no way that this gaming behemoth will not get a new game for this generation of consoles.

Unfortunately, as we are approaching the end of 2021, when it comes to GTA 6, we are still swimming in the murky waters of rumours and speculation, as that's all we can get until Rockstar announces the game officially.

The latest information about GTA 6 is coming from Rockstar Mag's Chris, a French YouTuber who has proven to be a trustful and reliable source for all things related to Rockstar and its games.

And the news he is bringing is not exactly positive, especially if you were hoping for the game to be released soon.

Insider claims GTA VI is "a big mess"

According to Chris (via NeoGAF's forum user KyoZz), information came to him that the current state of the game is far from satisfactory, claiming that GTA 6 went through several "restarts" which essentially brought the development back to square one.

Chris says that GTA 6's story has been completely revamped several times, even before Dan Houser, Rockstar Games' co-founder and the lead writer on most GTA games, left the company, in February 2020.

The insider claims that Dan Houser's departure is a direct consequence of things that have been happening at Rockstar in recent years, and changes to the game's story are just some of many factors adding up to the current abysmal state of GTA 6.

According to Chris, both the story and various key gameplay elements were completely changed "many times" since 2019, and although he claims that he has seen the map and some other elements, he thinks that it's pointless to talk about any of them, as most of them are likely to be removed or drastically changed.

Chris claims that Rockstar originally planned to announce the game in 2020, but because of the constant shifts in development, we should not expect any official news about the game anytime soon.

The only constant in the story that hasn't been changed is that the game will take place during two time periods, Chris said. He added that the game will be designed to appeal to an even broader mainstream audience than GTA 5.

So there you have it, the latest rumours about the game are not as optimistic as Snoop Dogg's recent claim that Dr. Dre is working for the next Grand Theft Auto game.

Not everything is negative in Chris' latest report, though. If you are a fan of Red Dead Redemption, you will be happy to hear that the rumoured remaster of the original game is in development, and Chris says that it will be in a similar vein to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, with numerous visual and gameplay improvements, slated for release on the current-gen consoles and PC.

As always, keep in mind that everything written here is just rumours coming from someone who's not officially associated with Rockstar, so please take all the information with a grain of salt.
