Google is giving free Stadia Pro access for two months

IT giant has joined the list of companies that are giving away free entertainment for gamers amidst COVID-19 crisis.
Google is giving free Stadia Pro access for two months

Google announced today that the Google Stadia Pro will be free in the next two months. Starting from today, anyone who wishes to get access to Stadia Pro can do it simply by going to their official site, and from there just follow the instructions. There's a catch though: this will be available only to costumers in 14 selected countries, so if your country is not among them, this will not work for you.

"We’re facing some of the most challenging times in recent memory. Keeping social distance is vital, but staying home for long periods can be difficult and feel isolating. Video games can be a valuable way to socialize with friends and family when you’re stuck at home, so we’re giving gamers in 14 countries free access to Stadia Pro for two months," says Phil Harrison, Google Stadia product manager.

When you sign up, you will immediately get two free months of Stadia Pro with instant access to nine games, including GRID, Destiny 2: The Collection, Metro Exodus, Gylt, and Thumper.

Harrison also talked a bit about responsible approach to internet traffic, and he said that they will change default screen resolution from 4k to 1080p (which you can always change back manually).

Stadia was publicly released on November 19 last year (in selected countries) and did not get favourable reviews. Most users pointed out problems with input lag, small library of games, non-native 4K resolutions and monetisation system which is not "Netflix for games", as people hoped it will be.

Nonetheless, Google is not giving up on it, and they have (or had, before COVID-19) big plans for their cloud streaming platform. Earlier this year, Google announced that it planned to release over 120 games for Stadia during 2020, of which 10 were timed-exclusives set to release in the first half of the year. The greatest challenge will still bethe quality of playing and problems with latency and video quality.

Anyway, if you ever wanted to try Google Stadia, and are living in one of the selected countries, now it's jour chance to do it for free!
