The team behind Hunt: Showdown 1896 is known for dropping cryptic hints about upcoming updates through subtle social media posts, and this time is no different. A series of recent teasers has sparked speculation across forums, with players buzzing about the possibility of a new trait, a fresh battle pass, and the long-awaited return of DeSalle. Let’s break down what’s been uncovered so far.

The Skull and the "Iron Wrists" Teaser

The first post shows an image of a skull with beams or spikes protruding from it—a familiar visual associated with traits in the game, especially the "Remedy" trait. However, what stands out is the mysterious text layered on top of the image: “Get wrists like iron—BANG BANG BANG. Hit him with the Haymaker, make the fans roar.”

New trait
This post hints at a brand-new trait coming for the Haymaker—or at the very least, a weapon with similar characteristics. (Picture: Crytek)

Though vague, the post has fueled speculation that a new trait is coming, potentially one linked to the Haymaker or Uppermat. These weapons typically don’t support fanning, so some fans believe this might introduce a fanning-style trait specifically for them.

Others suggest it could be a stabilizing trait—similar to Crack Shot—that improves handling or allows dual-wielding with the Haymaker. There’s even speculation it could enhance melee effectiveness with the weapon. While it's all just theory for now, the possibilities are exciting.

Beastface Rework or The Return of Desalle?

The second post displays a poster pinned to a signpost, showing a Hellhound and the phrase: “Worried about the BIRDS and the BEASTS hearing you? There’s something for that, too.”

This has led many in the community to believe it could be a new version of the Beastface trait—possibly one that extends to birds or further enhances stealth against AI threats. What’s more interesting is the background, which appears to resemble a Desalle location—potentially a barricaded saloon.

While it's not confirmed, the familiar architecture has fans wondering if Desalle might return in the upcoming update. Whether it’s a map tease or simply a visual red herring, the idea of a revamped Beastface trait has caught players' attention.

Doc Redmartin and a Possible Battle Pass Release Date Hint

The most recent post features a new character—possibly a hunter—pinning a trail notice to a bulletin board. The quote on the post reads: “For those six effects, what did I get? That pale ogre thinks he could nail me to the wall. Fat chance.” – Doc Redmartin

This could indicate the introduction of a new hunter, possibly tied to the next event. However, what’s most interesting is the partially visible message in the background: “… General store Thursday evening. June 6.”

Players are speculating that this could be a hint at the date of the next event, which might also include a new Battle Pass and this mysterious hunter. There’s a small snag, though—June 6, 2025, is a Friday, not a Thursday. This has led some to believe it could be a lore detail referencing a historical in-game date (back in 1896) rather than a literal release date.

New battle pass and more
While the details remain unclear, it’s evident that a new battle pass, event, and feature will be arriving in the bayou very soon. (Picture: Crytek)

While nothing has been officially confirmed, Crytek seems to be building hype for something big. These teasers are designed to get the community talking—and they’re succeeding.

Until we hear more, take all these theories with a grain of salt. Still, with these posts dropping in quick succession, it’s clear that something is brewing in the bayou. Stay tuned to Hunt: Showdown 1896's socials—and we’ll be here to break it all down as soon as more info surfaces.
