How To Respec In Last Epoch & Cost Explained

Last Epoch is an intricate ARPG with deep systems, and respeccing certain pieces of your character progression isn't as easy or straightforward as some other titles in the genre, but it sure is rewarding! Let's dive in and discuss respeccing passives and skill points in Last Epoch!

How To Respec Passives in Last Epoch

As you level up in Last Epoch and complete certain quests, you will unlock passive points and make a tonne of tough choices along the way. You will want to, at times, respecialize your mastery point allocations (aka passives) for the best builds possible.

To respec your passive points, you must head to either the End of Time or the Council Chambers areas. Then, look for an NPC with a pink/purple brain icon called Chronomancer Lerinne. Speak to Lerinne and select "Respecialize Mastery Point allocations."

From here, the UI will open your passive tree, where you can choose which passive points to remove. There is a Gold cost attached to respeccing passives in Last Epoch, determined by how many points you've spent, and which ones you want to remove. We found that it is good to experiment and learn this feature early on, as we already met Chronomancer Lerinne at level 7. 

The good news is that, unlike skills that you sometimes need to relevel (more on this in the next section of our guide), you can instantly add all your passive points in Last Epoch, with no need to earn them again. 

Respeccing Skills in Last Epoch

To respec skills in Last Epoch, you can just press the "S" key (default option) to open the Skills & Specializations tab, then choose a skill you wish to respec. At the top-right corner of your screen, you will see the "RESPEC" button. Click it!

You have the choice between "Remove Points" and "Despecialize Skill" in Last Epoch. These are, of course, two very different options, which we will explain below.

Remove Points in Last Epoch

You can remove individual points of your choosing from a skill in Last Epoch by choosing the "Remove Points" option. Every skill in the game has a minimum specialized level, which increases as you continue to earn XP.

If you respec a skill in Last Epoch below the minimum specialized level, it can be instantly used again, while skill points above the minimum level have to be re-leveled again. The maximum specialized level for skills is 10.

Despecialize Skill in Last Epoch

If you want to completely change your skill instead of simply removing points from its tree, you can choose the Despecialize Skill option. It will be completely removed from your specialization bar, and you will have to select a new skill in its place. The new skill you choose will start at the minimum skill level.
