Riot Games Announces "Soul Fighter” Event For League of Legends, TFT And More

There's an all-new event on the horizon, taking place across Riot Games' catalog of popular titles. Whether you play League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift, or Legends of Runeterra, you'll be able to dive into Soul Fighter — a six-week event inspired by fighting games.

According to Riot Games, the event is the studios' tribute to the fighting game genre, taking inspiration from unique character moments from fighting games and anime tournament arcs. This will translate into new game modes, skins, gameplay features amd more across all of the Runeterra titles. Soul Fighter takes place in an alternate universe, where competitors prove themselves through combat by taking part in the Tournament of Souls.

Head of League Studio Andrei van Roon said of the event, "We’re really excited for the range of different experiences across the League of Legends ecosystem that make up the Soul Fighter event. Arena, Soul Brawl, and Tag Duel will let players experience League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics and Wild Rift, respectively, in new ways that we think bring something really fresh to the table. We can't wait to see what players think once they get their hands on them."

Across each of the four titles, players can expect brand new cosmetics and game modes to enjoy across the six-week event, and beyond. In League of Legends, players will be welcoming new champion Naafiri the Hound of a Hundred Bites, while champion Samira will be getting an Ultimate skin — Soul Fighter Samira. In TFT, new game mode "Soul Brawl" is sure to get the blood pumping.

If you needed an added incentive to pick up some special cosmetics during this event, between August 1 to August 28, Riot Games will be contributing 20% of proceeds from certain sales to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Here's what qualifies for the donations:

  • Soul Fighter Samira (skin only)
  • Unmatched Bounty Hunter Bundle
  • Soul Fighter Event Pass
  • Soul Fighter Event Pass Bundle

As part of the event, Riot Games will host Soul Fighter: Fight Night — a broadcasted event where 16 content creators will compete for the title of Fight Night Champion.

The event will be held in Los Angeles, California and will be livestreamed via Twitch on July 17 at 6 p.m. PT.
