The best running play in Madden 22

Utilize your running game to its highest potential with Madden 22’s best run play.

Whenever a new Madden title is released, players immediately want to know the best plays to run so they can bowl over their opponent in either offline or online competition.

More specifically, players typically want to know the best run play for their specific offence. While passing plays are an important part of an offence, there are far more of them than their running counterpart. This makes choosing the best one much more difficult.

However, with running plays, there aren’t as many varieties, making it more likely for every player to have the opportunity to run it. In Madden 22, there are a couple of contenders for the best run play and they’re laid out below.

To start, players should pick an offensive playbook that prioritizes the run over the pass. The playbook we recommend is the Minnesota Vikings, as they ensure that Dalvin Cook is at the forefront of their offence and give him plays that reinforce this. However, other playbooks players can use are the Tennessee Titans or Las Vegas Raiders.

Once you’ve selected a running playbook, you can find the formation “Strong Z Close.” This is an I-Formation that utilizes the fullback offset on the strong side, which is the side that you want to run the play to. The actual play is the HB Stretch, which sees the quarterback hand the ball off to the running back in the backfield towards the side the play is run to.

From here, your receivers and fullback will handle the blocking in front of you. When running, you want to stick on the outside of your blockers and perform any spin or other moves to get past a defender that slipped past your blocker.

Of course, sometimes your blockers won’t do a great job and a couple of defenders will meet you a few yards past the line of scrimmage. However, more often than not, you’ll be able to get several yards before any defender touches you. From here, it’s up to you to get around them.

This play will work against most defences but is highly effective against the 4-3. Only having three linebackers on the defence allows your blockers to be more effective on the outside and gives you only one defender to beat most of the time.
