Developer NetEase Games released the patch notes for their latest game update v.20250508, which will be deployed for consoles and PCs on 8th May 2025 at 1 am PT / 4 am ET / 9 am UTC. The developer continues their commitment to address a myriad of gameplay and technical issues players have experienced, which includes new gameplay content, adjustments, optimizations, and plenty of bug fixes for all platforms.

This latest patch update adds minor hero and map changes, bug fixes for various playable heroes, and other general system adjustments. There are a few key highlights for this update, including the launch of the Giant-Size Brain Blast event, new cosmetics and the relaunch of the Emote and Spray Wheel, which the developer has touted to be reimagined, where they are now two separate wheels to toggle for emotes and sprays with "dedicated hotkeys."

Additionally, the developer has added a tweak to the Heroes page where portraits in-game will now "reflect their currently equipped costumes." Lastly, there is a bug fix that resolved a bug where voicechat will still reveal players' names while in "anonymous mode," and with that said, let's look at the new heroic changes, as detailed by the developer in the aforementioned post, that were made to the overall game for Marvel Rivals:

8th May 2025 Update: Marvel Rivals v.20250508 Patch Notes – Bug Fixes, Adjustments & Optimizations:

NEW CONTENT:

In-Game Store:

  • Rocket Raccoon - Sunshine Raccoon Bundle
  • Squirrel Girl - Sunshine Squirrel Bundle

Gameplay Features:

  • The emote and spray wheel has been reimagined!
    • They are now split into two separate wheels with dedicated hotkeys for lightning-fast switching.
    • In the Cosmetics - Sprays menu, you can now set your current spray wheel to be shared across all heroes.
    • A new quick-equip feature has been added: Emotes can be automatically slotted into the corresponding hero's emote wheel upon acquisition, and when the spray wheel is set to "Apply to All," newly earned sprays can also be equipped instantly.
  • Portraits in "Heroes" have been updated to reflect their currently equipped costumes.

BUG FIXES:

All Platforms – Maps and Modes:

  • Vanquished a glitch that would sometimes occur under rare circumstances where players who didn't provide the most healing in a match were mistakenly awarded the Gifted Healer badge.

All Platforms – Heroes:

  • Jeff's Missing Meal: We've wiped out a glitch where, in controller mode, when Jeff the Land Shark swallowed 6 enemies with his Ultimate Ability, only 5 avatar icons showed up on screen.
    • Now, our fin-tastic friend will see his 6-piece meal every time!
  • Bruce Banner's Space Out: We've smashed a bug that left all three forms of Bruce Banner unable to bind the jump action to the Spacebar.
    • Now, Banner can leap into action as intended.

Other:

  • We've remedied an oversight, where, in anonymous mode, using voice chat still revealed your original name.
