Spider-Man Remastered Is Sony's 2nd Biggest Launch On Steam

To no one's surprise, Spider-Man Remastered has officially been reported as Sony's 2nd biggest launch on Steam.

With Marvel's Spider-Man Remaster just recently released to PC on 12th August, the game exploded in both popularity and positive reviews from fans and critics alike. So much so that the game has become Sony's 2nd largest launch on Steam, and for good reason.

In this post, we'll take a look at the recently released data surrounding the title's massive success, and how it quickly rose to become the second largest release on Steam from Sony Entertainment.

According to the recent information gathered on SteamDB, the peak concurrent player count for Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered was 66,436. This brings the game in second as its figure falls short of the PC version of God of War, which had 73,529 users at launch, but even so, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered outperformed Sony's other Steam releases.

Horizon Zero Dawn had a concurrent player count of 56,557, while Days Gone had a much lower peak concurrent user count of 27,450. With all this in perspective, it makes Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered Sony's second-largest Steam launch.

At the time of writing, there are currently 49,438 people playing Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered on Steam, and this number will likely be growing over the next few weeks. Due to the recent remaster, there will likely be many more players jumping onto the bandwagon, as the game grows in popularity among PC players. Although single-player games typically have their highest concurrent player count at or near launch, many PC players who didn't play the game on the console might be willing to give the game a chance now.

However, it's unlikely that Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered will have more than 66,436 concurrent players on Steam after sales and other promotions as games tend to drop off in number as players complete it and move on. Along with the fact that many players have already completed the game and are only replaying it now for the DLC options and performance they can get on PC.

PC users can expect even more Sony games shortly. The Last of Us Part 1 will be released on PC after the PS5 version is released in September. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will also be released on PC as part of the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and recent rumors of a co-op functionality coming to Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

And, of course, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is set to release on PC in the fall of 2022. The Miles Morales title is supposed to expand on the gameplay blueprint introduced in Marvel's Spider-Man, and provide players with new powers and abilities.
