Meet Your Maker Best Guards To Use

What are the best guards in Meet Your Maker? We'll walk you through the list.
Meet Your Maker Best Guards To Use

Your two main lines of defense in your Meet Your Maker Outpost are traps and Guards; while traps are an incredibly efficient way to guard your Genmat, Guards are often overlooked. There are four different types of Guards in Meet Your Maker, with each boasting their own unique ability that can help you protect your Outpost.

In this guide, we'll list all the Guards in Meet Your Maker, what they can do, and which ones are best.

Update 29 June 2023 - We've now had a chance to try out Meet Your Maker's Sector 1: Dreadshore, released on 27 June 2023, so we've updated this article to include the Ravager.

All Guards In Meet Your Maker

As we mentioned, there are four different types of Guards in Meet Your Maker. You can buy new Guards, or upgrade ones you already own, in the Sanctuary by talking to your Guards Advisor. Here are all of the Guard types you can place:

  • Cannonback - A sub-clone equipped with a canon that lobs explosives.
  • Enforcer - A bolt-shooting sub-clone that specializes in mid-range combat.
  • Hornet - A flying sub-clone. Fires plasma bolts that home in slightly on their target.
  • Warmonger - A large sub-clone with heavy blades embedded in its arms. Chases and slashes at its target.
  • Ravager (NEW) - Visor alters its vision to display multiple blurred targets when only one is present, causing it to continuously fire at each apparent target.

Best Guards In Meet Your Maker

Choosing Guards for your Outpost in Meet Your Maker is really just about assessing the situation and understanding every type of Guard since no one Guard type is objectively better across the board. In fact, you should use all Guard types in your Outpost if possible but think critically about how to place them. This is true for almost all Outposts.

To choose your Guards, think about the traps you've placed around your Outpost and how you can use the Guards to either encourage players to fall into them or kill them outright as they attempt to escape.

For example, if you want to protect the Genmat with melee guards that surround it, you'll want to go with the Warmonger. On the other hand, if you want a ranged attacker, you might want to go with the Hornet or Enforcer instead. For a multi-pronged approach, maybe go with the brand-new Ravager, released in Sector 1: Dreadshore.

That's all you need to know about how Guards work in Meet Your Maker to create your own Outpost. While all of the Guards are useful in some instances, it's critical that you place the right guards in appropriate situations so they can efficiently protect your Genmat.
