Minecraft Legends Difficulty Levels, Settings & Effects

The new action strategy title from Mojang Studios and Blackbird Interactive, Minecraft Legends, tasks players with stopping the Piglins before their Nether corruption devours the Overworld. It is a huge task, and some might be wondering what difficulty levels Minecraft Legends has to pick from during the campaign/story mode.

This guide explains the Minecraft Legends difficulty levels/settings and their unique effects on your game experience as well as the Overworld map.

There are a total of four difficulty levels in Minecraft Legends. These difficulty settings can be chosen before you start a campaign story mode game, either for co-op or playing alone. The difficulty settings in Minecraft Legends don't just do basics like making player units tankier and enemies less powerful. Instead, in Minecraft Legends, there are also changes to the map and enemy aggression.

Check out the four difficulty levels in Minecraft Legends with official in-game descriptions below, showing these settings' effects on the Overworld map and gameplay.

  • Storied: Recommended for players who want to experience the story and explore the world with less conflict. Smaller world with fewer Piglin bases. Player units are more resilient. Resources are more plentiful, and Piglin attacks are infrequent and much weaker.
  • Fabled: Recommended for players less familiar with strategy games. Balanced world size and amount of Piglin bases. Requires strategy and correct use of your tools.
  • Mythic: Recommended for players seeking a greater challenge. Larger world size with more Piglin bases. Enemy units are slightly more resilient. Resources are more scarce.
  • Legendary: Recommended for one or more expert players seeking a greater challenge. Larger world size with more Piglin bases. Resources are much more scarce. Piglin attacks are stronger and more frequent.

We tested all four difficulty levels during our time with Minecraft Legends and can report with confidence that they do make a big difference.

Since the map size and the number of Piglin bases are affected by the difficulty level/setting, it makes sense that you can not simply change the Minecraft Legends difficulty for a specific campaign game.

We will update this section if anything changes, but as far as we can tell, you will have to create a new game to change the Minecraft Legends difficulty settings.
