Monster Hunter Wilds Release Date Speculation

We know from the first official trailer that Monster Hunter Wilds has a release date window of "2025," which is quite broad. That's where some speculation based on the past two mainline entries, World and Rise, comes into play. Check out the table below for reference.

Monster Hunter Game Release Date & Day
Monster Hunter World 26 January 2018 (Friday)
Monster Hunter Rise 26 March 2021 (Saturday)
Monster Hunter Wilds TBC

It appears that Capcom released the past two Monster Hunter mainline entries on the 26th of a month and tends to target release in the first half of a year. They also tend to release a new game at the end of the week.

To this end, and this is PURE SPECULATION, we think the Monster Hunter Wilds release date might be Saturday, 26 April 2025. Check back to see if we get this prediction right!

Monster Hunter Wilds Gameplay & Dynamic Weather!

From the trailer, it is rather clear that Monster Hunter Wilds will feature a dynamic weather system. Capcom showcased a moving sandstorm as well as lightning strikes, and a day/night cycle.

The Monster Hunter series producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, teased: "the game features a new level of detailed creatures and ecosystems," and encouraged fans to look for clues in the trailer!

While the first trailer showcases a player riding through different biomes (desert, grasslands, and mountains) on their mount (more on this later), we didn't see actual fighting take place if you don't count a larger monster attacking smaller, cute creatures!

All Monster Hunter Wilds Weapons

We can confirm that the Greatsword will be one of the Monster Hunter Wilds weapons. We also speculate that the following weapons will be included in the game at launch since they are the mainstays of the franchise.

  • Sword & Shield
  • Bow
  • Longsword
  • Hammer
  • Light Bowgun
  • Dual Blades
  • Switch Axe
  • Charge Blade
  • Lance

While we hope to see all these weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds, the list above is just educated guesswork, which we will update with a "confirmed" status as soon as more gets revealed by Capcom.

All Monsters To Hunt in MHW

What are those creatures? (Picture: Capcom)

We expect dozens of creature types in Monster Hunter Wilds, from the passive Amarillo-like monsters we've seen during the trailer to big bads such as the Anjanath or Rathian. So far, specifics on Monster Hunter Wilds creatures are unknown, and we will endeavor to update this section as soon as we have an official list to fill out.

Interestingly, we've seen a glimpse of a large monster, likely Goss Harag from Monster Hunter Rise, during the trailer.

Monster Hunter Wilds Platforms

At the time of writing, the confirmed Monster Hunter Wilds platforms are Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PC via Steam.

No mention was made of the game's availability on the Nintendo Switch. It could be that the game is not planned for launch on Nintendo's console, or the developers plan to release it on the Switch 2.

Since Monster Hunter Wilds has a release date window of "2025," we don't expect the game to be released on the PS4 or Xbox One family of consoles. After all, Capcom calls it the "next generation in the genre-defining series."

Monster Hunter Wilds Mounts Feature

One of the best features of Monster Hunter Rise is its mounts, and there will be a variety of mounts in Monster Hunter Wilds! In the reveal trailer, we saw a player ride a wyvern-like mount and, in a pinch, could glide across the sky, indicating at least a small level of flying ability.

PC System Requirements For MHW

At the time of writing, there's no indication of what the PC system requirements for Monster Hunter Wilds will look like, with official information still being scarce. It does look like the game will use a version of Capcom's RE Engine, but the dense population of monsters shown in the trailer and graphical improvements lead us to believe we might see higher required PC specs than that of World and Rise.

Monster Hunter Wilds PC Specs Speculation:

  • OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)/Windows 11 (64 bit)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / Intel Core i7 8700
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
  • DirectX: Version 12

The specs above are speculative. We do believe that if you have a PC with this level of hardware, you should at least be able to run Monster Hunter Wilds at a respectable 30 FPS, based on the recommended requirements of Resident Evil 4 Remake, which is currently the latest title built on Capcom's RE Engine.

Does Monster Hunter Wilds Feature Ray Tracing?

It is unclear if Ray Tracing is enabled for Monster Hunter Wilds, judging just by the trailer. However, looking at the lighting effects the the second half of the reveal trailer, there's a good chance the game will launch with a Ray Tracing option on consoles and PCs.
