Assassin's Creed is joining the Universes Beyond branding for Magic The Gathering as part of a release next year. With more than a dozen Assassin's Creed games to pull from and a whole host of spin-offs, we'll probably see a lot of beloved characters from the series implemented as part of the collection. But when exactly will the cards be released? What could we potentially see as part of an Assassins Creed Universes Beyond set? We take a look and find out.

22 January 2024 - Page updated and checked for the latest news and information.

When will the Assassin's Creed Universes Beyond set be released?

According to the official Magic The Gathering website, we can expect the Assassin's Creed set for Magic The Gathering Universes Beyond to launch in July 2024. That means there's just under a year until you can jump into the Ubisoft franchise in your favorite card game.

It's likely that we'll find out more details about the set itself close to the release of the next Universes Beyond set, which in this case will be Fallout in March of next year. This will be when we see the first cards from the set, along with elaborations on the release format of the set itself.

What cards could be in the Assassin's Creed Universes Beyond set?

Obviously, with how far away the set release is, we don't really know what to expect in the card list. It's likely that every single main character from the franchise will be included, though, with characters such as Ezio getting their own card and likely being commanders of their own decks. Other than that though, we might see some Templar cards sneak in and perhaps some more modern cards focused on Desmond and other characters from the modern-day storyline.

Will the Assassin's Creed cards be in a deck or boosters?

The Assassin's Creed set will be the very first set with what is being referred to as 'Beyond Boosters'. The Senior Product Designer of Magic The Gathering, Athena Froehlich, stated during Gen Con 2023 that:

"They aren't draftable, but each booster takes you on a journey unique to that universe."

What this could imply is that each game in the series will receive its own Beyond Booster, with the contents of that pack showing the events of the game. The fact that they're not draftable means that we could be looking at smaller overall packs, and could mean that you'll need to buy more than a few packs to build a deck.

However, it's also possible that we could get themed decks, similar to the way that Lord of the Rings had Commander Decks, Starter Decks, and Booster Packs that you could pull cards from and mix into your decks.

What games will be represented in the set?

While there's no official confirmation on a list of games that'll be included in the set, we can probably assume that each of the mainline games in the franchise will probably get at least one card. This means we can probably expect cards from the following games:

  • Assassin's Creed
  • Assassin's Creed 2
  • Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
  • Assassin's Creed: Revelations
  • Assassin's Creed 3
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Assassin's Creed: Rogue
  • Assassin's Creed: Unity
  • Assassin's Creed: Syndicate
  • Assassin's Creed: Origins
  • Assassin's Creed: Odyssey
  • Assassin's Creed: Valhalla
  • Assassin's Creed: Mirage
