NBA 2K22 Season 2: Start time, free Michael Jordan, events, player-coach cards, more.

Even though Season 1 flew right past, NBA 2K22 will continue to bring the rewards as Season 2 turns it up a notch.
It is crazy to think that there is only a couple of days left in the first season of NBA 2K22 and the race to get the level 40 rewards is well and truly on.

It seems like it was only yesterday that we were playing our first Triple Threat online matches or our first Limited weekend in our chase for our MT rings and now we are about to start everything all over again but this time with a new focus and more experience.

Whether you spent most of your playing time in MyCareer or MyTeam we will recap with you everything that has been made official by 2K regarding the second season of NBA 2K22 named “Build your Empire”.

When does NBA 2K22 Season 2: Build your Empire start?

Season 2 is scheduled to start at 8 pm PT on Friday, 22nd October, which marks exactly six weeks since the release date of the game itself.

If this is any indication and Season 2: Build your Empire behaves the same we should get another 40+ days to grind and get the rewards with Season 3 arriving somewhere around 3rd December, but this is just speculation so far.

MyCareer gets spooky as a brand new level 40 reward is unveiled

First off, we begin with MyCareer and even though we haven’t been able to see a full breakdown of the season rewards we already know that if we get to level 40 we are getting a bony outfit.

The Skeleton Maskot looks amazing as it disguises your whole player to look like a walking science classroom decoration and it could be amazing to get it before Halloween to have an appropriate look to go with our scary good ability to score.

Like last season, you will be able to level up by collecting XP playing around on the cruise of the city depending if you play current or next-gen. As soon as we get a full list of the rewards available during Season 2 we will update you, but we expect more banners, attires and maybe a new vehicle.

Seasonal and sponsored events will be recurrent throughout Season 2

NBA 2K22 MyCareer Events
Fall is getting to its sweet spot and is bringing fun events with it to the NBA 2K22 virtual realm. (Picture: 2K Sports)

Fall is definitely upon us so we expect maybe a themed activity that will help us level up faster or award us with VC or other consumables, as double XP events, trivia and other mini-games are already due.

Besides that, NBA 2K22 will keep partnering with big brands like Mobil 1, Ruffles or Kia to create tournaments and challenges that will help your cause in MyCareer and get to that level 40 a little bit faster.

Keep taking a look around the building and the ads built in them as they tend to tease or announce upcoming events, that way you can always be prepared to take over the game and win amazing rewards.

MyTeam aims to have another season full of surprises and high-adrenaline basketball

Although the full reward list has not been disclosed, The Big Ticket will be next season’s Grand Prize. (Picture: 2K Sports)

On the other end of the fan-favourite game modes, MyTeam will also get some tweaks to their core modes and of course, a new slate of rewards that haven’t been made official yet, just like MyCareer.

What we do know is who is going to be this season's Grand Prize, and just like Season 1, we are playing to get a Pink Diamond, only this time instead of dealing with Melo Anthony we will be trying to recruit the Timberwolves’ legend, Kevin Garnett.

Another great “fix” that we will get is that The 100 (Triple Threat Online) will not subtract the opponent points of your countdown if you get the win, which will greatly improve your chances to get to the 6ier 3 rewards.

How to build your empire in NBA 2K22 Season 2?

Start your season off by getting a Free Agent Michael Jordan and an Evolution edition of The Worm, Dennis Rodman. (Picture: 2K Sports)

This season will have the “Build your Empire” motto all over it, and it would be very hard not to connect that with the biggest dynasty in the history of the NBA: the 1990’s Chicago Bulls.

On the first day of the new season, which will fall on 22nd September, you will obtain a free agent 95 OVR Michael Jordan to immediately improve your starting lineup with the GOAT.

You can pair him up with one of the best rebounders in the history of the game by introducing the THE-WORM-SEASON-2 Locker Code to get an 83 OVR Evolution item of Dennis Rodman.

If you need a quick reminder on how to enter Locker Codes you can visit our dedicated article that has every active code and it could help you get the most of your NBA 2K22 copy.

For the first time ever, Player-Coach items will be introduced to the MyTeam universe

One of the other main surprises that 2K had for us is the introduction of the Player-Coach cards for the first time ever in the history of the franchise.

These special items will be available throughout the Domination game mode where you could get a Diamond Coach Player version of Bill Russell, “The Chef” Stephen Curry or even “The Worm” himself.

There will be other remarkable names added to this list of “new coaches” like Shaq, Yao Ming, Zion Williamson, Kevin Durant or even “The King” Lebron James.

In the meantime, make sure to give a look at our dedicated section as we will bring you everything you need to know about every NBA 2K release, news, MyTeam tips and more.
