Outriders: How to defeat the massive Chrysaloid

The Chrysaloid is one of Outriders’ toughest bosses. Here is how to defeat him.
Outriders: How to defeat the massive Chrysaloid

The venture into the forest in Outriders is not for the faint of heart. After defeating Moloch in Trench Town and completing any quests in the Quarry, players are immediately greeted by one of the game’s toughest foes when trying to access the forest.

As soon as your truck hits the borders, a giant, shark-like snake emerges from the ground and causes the truck to suffer severe damage. You, being the noble Outrider that you are, go out to investigate and find something unworldly.

The Chrysaloid emerges once you enter the quest area and it’s one of, if not the most intimidating enemy you’ve faced all game. At first, there seems to be no way to beat it. However, we have all of the steps you need to conquer this beast.

In the first moments of the fight, you want to make sure you’re on the far right of the circular battlefield. This is because the shark monster has a huge breath attack that encompasses the entire area and deals a huge amount of damage. You’ll know it’s about to use this attack when its head goes down and it starts sucking in air.

For the first of these attacks, go to the far right of the area and get behind the rock wall. You can shoot at the beast during all of this because the red breath won’t hurt you from here. However, the Chrysaloid immediately takes the rock wall away, making you move to another spot.

From here on out, you need to use the small rock structures spread out throughout the battle area, as you can see below.

Throughout all of this, you want to make sure you’re getting in as many shots on the Chrysaloid as possible. Make sure to aim for its eyes and the top of its head to deal critical damage. We recommend opting for a powerful one-shot rifle or tactical assault rifle for this fight. If you run out of bullets, you can restock at the ammo bins on either side of the field.

Once the beast gets down to half health, it’ll drag you down to a pond, where you’ll need to get rid of the other half of its health. However, be warned; if you die during the second portion of the right, you’ll need to restart it completely.

To avoid dying, make sure to keep dealing damage whenever possible. The Chrysaloid will use one more red breath attack at the start of the fight, which you can avoid by going directly under him, and then throw rocks at you from a distance. All of this is fairly easy to dodge but then the bug enemies come into the fight.

You need to eliminate the three flying bugs as quickly as possible. They deal poison damage that will completely ruin your chances of winning if you get hit by them. Once they’re defeated, the Chrysaloid will begin to scramble around the rock walls.

Simply keep peppering it with shots and avoiding the easy-to-predict attacks. If it goes for another breath attack, always make sure to get right under its mouth.

Many players have needed to lower their World Tier to win this fight. However, no matter what tier you’re on, you will receive a legendary weapon once the Chrysaloid is defeated.
