What Are Ascendancy Classes In Path Of Exile?

In Path of Exile (PoE), Ascendancy classes serve as progressive sub-specializations, providing a range of unique abilities and skills that amplify the core characteristics of a character. These classes are a key gameplay element, offering an extensive canvas for build personalization and strategic depth.

After clearing the Lord's Labyrinth for the initial time, players are free to select their Ascendancy class. Each class in the game comes with its own set of subclasses (with the exception of Scion, featuring a versatile single Ascendancy Skill Tree). As it stands, the game currently features 19 unique Ascendancy classes.

How Are Ascendancy Classes Changing In Path Of Exile 2?

In Path of Exile 2, the developers are setting out to redefine the Ascendancy system by launching 19 innovative Ascendancy classes, effectively doubling the existing options. These new classes will not just enhance character traits, but rather, they'll push the boundaries of the gameplay with unique mechanics and fresh systems.

At present, seven of these new Ascendancy classes have been revealed, each providing a wealth of unique abilities and fundamentally reshaping build customization. We've detailed these classes below for your convenience.

It's also crucial to mention that acquiring these Ascendancy classes in PoE 2 will diverge from the familiar route in PoE. While the original game used the Labyrinth to unlock Ascendancies, PoE 2 will employ a new, yet-to-be-unveiled system integrated into its campaign.

This ambitious overhaul is set to further enrich the gameplay, enhance diversity, and offer a new perspective on character progression.

All New Marauder Ascendancy Classes In Path Of Exile 2

There are two new Ascendancy classes for the Marauder in Path of Exile 2. You can learn more about each of them below; however, please be informed that these details are subject to change.

The Reaver

The Reaver Ascendancy class promises a strategic shift in gameplay. Boasting a special emphasis on bolstering allies and enduring massive enemy onslaughts, the Reaver has all the makings of a true game-changer.

Ideal for party play, the Reaver offers an exciting synergy between players. But that's not all - this Ascendancy also appears poised to breathe new life into minion-based builds. In an intriguing twist, it's suggested that the Reaver might introduce a unique type of minion to the mix - perhaps a summoned Exile Mercenary or Bandit, giving players an innovative and exciting new tactical tool.

The Reaver will potentially offer nodes on the Ascendancy Skill Tree that permit modification of minion behavior and weaponry. Imagine being able to morph your typical minion army into a massive effigy of a god, adding an epic visual element to your powerful strategic choices.

This Ascendancy potentially represents a whole new archetype in Path of Exile 2, steering the game toward human forces instead of undead hordes. With such fresh possibilities, we can't wait to see the exciting strategies and builds the Reaver will inspire upon the release of Path of Exile 2. Stay tuned for more detailed guides as more information becomes available!

The Ancestor

The Ancestor is another new Marauder Ascendancy in Path of Exile 2. It revolves around invoking ancestral spirits and commanding them to charge against foes. The artwork released and the brief snippet shared by GGG suggest that this Ascendancy will strengthen the player through spiritual powers.

The Ancestor is expected to enhance and empower existing ancestral skills in the game, such as ancestral cry, ancestral call, and totems. While this gives us a rough idea of what the Ancestor Ascendancy will offer, it's essential to note that we're yet to receive more detailed information. We can look forward to learning more about this class in the lead-up to the release of Path of Exile 2.

And that's everything you need to know about all the new Marauder Ascendancy Classes in Path of Exile 2. Well, at least only the ones we know of right now. While you're here, continue reading about the new Ranger Ascendancy classes in PoE 2!
