Battle League Season 16 Start & End Dates
- Season 16 Start Date: 1 September 2023
- Season 16 End Date: 1 December 2023
Season 16 of the Pokémon GO Battle League starts on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 1PM PT / 4PM ET / 9PM BST / 9PM CEST and ends on Friday, December 1, 2023.
Following this date end-of-season rewards be handed out, and your GO Battle League season rank will be reset. However, your rank-up requirement will remain the same for the new season.

Battle League Season 16 Rewards
Throughout the GO Battle League season, you can gain experience for every five matches played and whether you've won or lost the matches. All Trainers begin at Level 5 and must progress through the league until Level 20, which will unlock various Pokémon you earn encounters with.
Below, we've outlined all the encounter rewards for rank-up and standard GO Battle League in Pokémon GO:
Guaranteed Rank-Up Encounters
- Level 1: Bisharp
- Level 6: Carbink
- Ace Rank (2,000 Rating): Goomy*
- Veteran Rank (2,500 Rating): Gible*
- Expert Rank (2,750 Rating): Jangmo-o
- Legend Rank (3,000 Rating): Pikachu Libre*
Standard Encounters
- Level 1: Croagunk*, Marill*, Meditite*, Skwovert* and Sneasel*
- Level 6: Carbink* and Frillish*

Battle League Season 16 Ranks
Once you've ranked up, you can still encounter other Pokémon featured in the Rank-up and standard GO Battle League encounters. After achieving Level 19, you can also receive an Elite Fast TM and an Elite Charged TM as additional Avatar rewards, inspired by the Paldean Gym leader Geeta from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, for the season listed below:

Battle League Season 16 Schedule
With the new season ushering a wave of changes to Pokémon GO, the GO Battle League will see a refresh on various leagues, which can be found in-game from the GO Battle League hub page. This will include the seasonal Sunshine Cup and the Halloween Cup to celebrate the incoming spooky season.

- 1st - 8th September 2023: Great League and Element Cup Remix: Little Edition
- 8th - 15th September 2023: Ultra League and Element Cup Remix: Little Edition
- 15th - 22nd September 2023: Master League and Psychic Cup: Great League Edition

Battle League Season 16 Events
Niantic has confirmed a GO Battle Weekend is scheduled for the current GO Battle League season, which will take place during the Season of Adventures Abound. According to developer Niantic, the GO Battle Weekend: Geeta will start on 7th October 2023 at 12 am local time before ending on 8th October 2023 at 11:59 pm local time.
During this GO Battle Weekend, Trainers can also participate in the active leagues, in which the Master League Premier and Single-type Cup: Great League Edition will be available. This GO Battle Weekend event will include free battle-themed Timed Research and rewards, which include quadruple Stardust, Rare Candy XL, Star Piece, and more.
Lastly, there will also be a paid Timed Research atop of the free one, which Trainers can purchase the ticket for $1,00 or equivalent in their local currency from the in-game shop, and the tasks and rewards must be claimed and completed by 8th October 2023 at 11:59 pm local time. Additionally, the max cap on sets to be played daily increased from five to 20 for 100 battles between 12 am and 11:59 pm local time during the event.
