The Season of Light is nearly over in Pokémon GO. While we wait for the upcoming Astral Eclipse event, what better high to go out on than with the launch of the classic Catch Cup? For those unaware, unlike the Great, Ultra, and Master League, you will only be able to use Pokémon caught during the Season of Light (between September 1, 2022 - November 30, 2022) for this Catch Cup. Additionally, the CP of the Pokémon used must be below 1500 CP to be eligible for entry. 

So, if you're looking to go far in the Season of Light edition of the Catch Cup, here is everything you need to know! This article will cover recommended Pokémon to use, optimal move sets, and more.

Best Team For Pokemon GO Catch Cup: Season Of Light

Only Pokémon caught during the Season of Light can be used in the Catch Cup.

There is no one best team out there that will flat-out stomp any competitor you come up against, unfortunately. A lot of the team building you do for this Catch Cup will depend on the Pokémon you have at your disposal. 

That being said, there are certainly powerful picks out there should you have access to them. The following Pokémon are recommended for anyone able to use them:

  • Galarian Stunfisk (Mud Shot / Rock Slide, Earthquake)
  • Medicham (Counter / Ice Punch, Psychic)
  • Trevenant (Shadow Claw / Seed Bomb, Shadow Ball)

These three Pokémon offer plenty of type coverage along with some powerful, hard-hitting moves. Aside from these three, other Pokémon to consider would be:

  • Scrafty (Counter / Foul Play, Power-Up Punch)
  • Skarmory (Air Slash / Brave Bird, Sky Attack)
  • Umbreon (Snarl / Foul Play, Last Resort)
  • Dragonair (Dragon Breath / Aqua Tail, Body Slam)
  • Alolan Nintales (Charm / Weather Ball, Psyshock)
  • Snorlax (Lick / Body Slam, Superpower)

Each Pokémon used in the Catch Cup must be below 1500 CP.

The Pokémon GO Catch Cup: Season of Light edition will start on Thursday, 24 November 2022, at 1 PM PT and will end on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 1 PM PT. This Catch Cup will be running alongside the standard Master League, so make sure you have enough time to get teambuilding and battling for both events!
