Can You Get Battle Bond Greninja In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?

Here is everything you need to know about Battle Bond Greninja in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Can You Get Battle Bond Greninja In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet?

After the recent Greninja Tera Raid battle, fans have been hard at work leveling up their Slowbros to take on the raid, EV training their Poison Tera-type Greninja for competitive play, or shiny breeding the new Raid boss for bragging rights. Greninja is a fan-favorite Pokémon not just because of its amazing design or inclusion in other games like Super Smash Brothers Ultimate but because of the prominent role it has in the Pokémon anime. Ash's Greninja was a mainstay during the ten-year-old trainer's journey through Kalos, and this is because of the signature ability his Greninja has.

Battle Bond is an ability that allows Greninja to transform into "Ash Greninja." While in this form, the Pokémon gains a boost to several key stats, allows Water Shuriken to always hit three times, and gains an awesome new appearance. Needless to say, Battle Bond is one of the key reasons why many fans love Greninja so much. With that in mind, you may be wondering, "can you get Battle Bond Greninja in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?" Let's answer this question!

You can't directly acquire Battle Bond Greninja in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and will have to transfer a Greninja with Battle Bond via Pokémon Home in order to use it. Yes, unfortunately, the Greninja Tera raid battle does not come with Battle Bond. So the only method to add a Greninja with the Battle Bond ability to your Pokémon Scarlet and Violet file will be via a Pokémon Home transfer.

The Tera Raid boss Greninja can still be bred but will only have access to its basic abilities, such as Torrent or Protean. Speaking of which, Protean has also been nerfed in this generation to activate only once per switch in. This is likely what spurred many fans to wonder about the availability of Battle Bond Greninja in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, as while there may have once been an argument for Battle Bond versus Protean in competitive play, it appears like Battle Bond Greninja is the obvious choice for generation IX.

Battle Bond Greninja was only available as a limited distribution for those who downloaded and played the Pokémon Sun and Moon Demo. Still, there are likely several Battle Bond Greninja floating around in many Pokémon Breeder's PC boxes. Surely, once Battle Bond Grneinja makes it to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, a quick DM asking for a trade will allow you to acquire one for yourself!
