How to catch Ralts in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Ralts is a beloved first-form evolution Pokémon that evolves into Kirlia, Gardevoir and Gallade in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Ralts was originally introduced in Generation III with Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Back then, Ralts was among the most powerful Psychic Pokémon in the entire franchise, evolving into the now-famous Gardevoir. However, with Pokémon Platinum, Game Freak upped the mon’s popularity by giving it a secondary third evolution in Gallade

In the new Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players can catch Ralts and evolve it into both Gardevoir and Gallade. The pair are among the strongest Psychic-types in Sinnoh and players would be fortunate to add either Pokémon to their party. However, in order to do so, they’ll need to find Ralts somewhere in the world first.

The first step you’ll need to take is reaching Eterna City, the home of the second Gym Leader, Gardenia.

Once here, you don’t need to immediately take on the Gym. Instead, you can go to the house next door to the Pokémon Center and talk to the Underground Man. After some talking, he will give you the Explorer’s Kit, which allows you to access the Grand Underground.

It’s only here that you can find Ralts in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. In the Grand Underground, you’ll need to keep searching caves until you find one of the following:

  • Stargleam Cavern
  • Dazzling Cave
  • Fountainsprint Cave

Any one of these three caves has the ability to spawn Ralts. There’s a 20%-30% chance that Ralts spawns in when you enter any of the caves. If it doesn’t, then you can simply exit the cave and then re-enter immediately to re-roll the spawns. Keep repeating this process until you see a Ralts roaming around the area.

Battle the Ralts and catch it to add it to your party. From here, you can evolve it into Kirlia at level 20 and then Gardevoir at level 30. To evolve it into Gallade, you’ll need a Dawn Stone. A Ralts can only evolve into a Gallade if it’s male, so you might need to keep catching Ralts’ until you find the right species.

That’s all there is to catching Ralts in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
