How to get Dewpider and Araquanid in Pokémon GO

Dewpider debuts in the Pokémon GO Water Festival event!
How to get Dewpider and Araquanid in Pokémon GO

Another event arrives in Pokémon GO with another Pokémon debut in the form of Dewpider and Araquanid. These two forms are part of the latest Water Festival event in the game along with a brand new Scarf Lapras.

Like most special debut events in Pokémon GO, there are some guaranteed ways of earning Dewpider and its evolution. Even without those guaranteed methods and tasks, catching enough should be easy enough while the event lasts. But utilizing the right tips can save plenty of grief in earning both Dewpider and Araquanid.

Until the 20th of May, you will have the chance to find Dewpider in Pokémon GO by simply walking around. As long as the event is live, Dewpider will have a fairly high chance of spawning in the wild. This includes when you go by PokéStops or use the incense lures that bring Pokémon to your own location.

When you go past PokéStops, you'll have another opportunity to get Dewpider. In some of the Field Research Tasks, the water spider will be the main reward upon full completion. The tasks available at a PokéStop will change on a daily basis, but as long as the event is live, there will be a chance for water Pokémon.

The last guaranteed way to earn Dewpider is to participate in the event-based research. Rather than going to the field or special research tabs, look at the "today" tab that contains limited-time challenges. At the top, you'll find the Global Challenge based on catching Water-type Pokémon.

Underneath the Global Challenge, you can find the Water Festival: Catch Challenge. If you complete the third challenge, which is to make 25 curveball throws, you will be rewarded with a Dewpider encounter.

Many of the recent Pokémon that individually debut will have special requirements to meet before getting to an evolution. This time though, all you need to do is catch Dewpider and earn enough candy to reach the next form of Araquanid.

In total, you will need 50 Dewpider candy before an evolution can happen. Each catch of the Pokémon will net you three candies in total, which equals about 17 catches in total. This can be sped up by transferring the ones you don't want for one candy each or using a Pinap Berry to get six candies per catch.

Before you use the candy to get the Araquanid evolution, you should ensure you have a Dewpider with good stats or CP. Completing field research or event challenges will typically give you the best chance of a three-star Pokémon. Once you have the one you want, you can make use of all that candy.

That's all there is to know about the new Dewpider and Araquanid debut.
