How to get and use an Elite Fast TM in Pokémon GO

Earning normal TM items is fairly common in Pokémon GO, whether they are Charged or Fast, but the Elite Fast TM items are far more difficult to come by. If you happen to get one, you have to be careful with how you choose to redeem it.

TM items in general give you the chance to change an attack on a given Pokémon. Normal TM items will give the Pokémon a random move from a specific list, and that won't include any of the special moves from events. An Elite Fast TM will allow you to choose any move from any event at will, and that leads to some powerful combinations.

Pokémon GO - How to use an Elite Fast TM

There are two versions of the Elite TM items, which are charged or fast attack based. In this case, you're looking for the fast attack version, but the same rules apply to both. When you get a hold of an Elite Fast TM, the next step is to choose the Pokémon that you want to alter in Pokémon GO.

It's important to reserve your Elite TM for a Pokémon that has a special move. Anything that has a normal list of attacks can be obtained by using the default TM items. Those are also in short supply, but not nearly as rare.

With the right Pokémon in mind, you can open up your item inventory and select an Elite Fast TM. This will bring up the full list of all your Pokémon and you can select the one you want. Once you do, the list of every possible fast attack will appear. The list will include special attacks that would never be obtainable without an event.

When you check off the attack you want and confirm it, the move is officially learned. However, your TM item will be used up and you'll need another one if you wish to change moves like that in the future.

Pokémon GO - How to get an Elite Fast TM

One of the best ways to earn these rare items is to participate in the GO Battle League. The GO Battle League is full of rewards for winning like Rare Candy, normal TM items, and Legendary Pokémon. But it's the end-of-season rewards that are the main draw here.

When a season ends and a player places high enough in level, they can earn an Elite Fast TM or Elite Charged TM. These are guaranteed and can be a great supplement for earning the items.

For new players, there are special research quests that occasionally reward you with an Elite TM. Whether it's a community event or a long-running storyline, this is another easy way to earn these TMs without having to battle.

The last method is to flat out buy them in the store. They can't be purchased individually, but they are typically available in one of the item boxes that are wrapped like a gift. Among other items, it's not uncommon to find Elite TMs sitting in a package deal for coins.
