How to get Lurantis in Pokémon GO

A guide to getting Lurantis in Pokémon GO while the Season of Alola shines on.
How to get Lurantis in Pokémon GO

Fomantis and Lurantis were added to Pokémon GO as two of the many Alolans that have appeared in the new season. With the latest season being based on the Alolan region itself, it was only a matter of time before the Grass-Type mantis was brought in.

As is the case with most drip-fed Pokémon content though, it can be tough to get a full evolution. The Alolan and Galar region Pokémon specifically have been known to require special events or tasks before they can be obtained. Luckily, Lurantis won't be too far off the norm.

If you're a player that is new to Pokémon or Pokémon GO in general, Lurantis is the second form of Fomantis. There are only two parts of the evolutionary line, both of which were added in March of 2022. Both of them are pure Grass-type options, despite the humanoid appearance.

In March, the event that brought Lurantis into the game was called the Lush Jungle event. Among other Grass-types, Fomantis was added to the pool of Pokémon that would appear in the wild. While the Season of Alola is live, Fomantis will still be able to appear as you walk around.

While there are no guarantees of wild spawns after a season ends, this Grass-type will likely remain a possible appearance. There is nearly a month left in the season, and that leaves plenty of time for exploration.

However, there is also a special research quest that will give any player that participates a Fomantis. This quest is called Akala Island and is indefinitely a part of the special research, even when the season ends. Completing the quest chains will give you an encounter with the Bloom Sickle Pokémon.

Even if you can't find enough candy for Lurantis, there are other methods. Rare candy is a universal option that allows for instant candy transfer. The other is to use the Fomantis as your buddy and build up candy that way.

Once you have a Fomantis in your inventory, the next step is to get the full evolution. First and foremost, the process will require a total of 50 candies. This can take about 17 individual catches without accounting for transfers or Pinap Berries.

With all of the candies available, step two is to wait for the sun. Evolving Fomantis can't happen unless there's daylight, so the time of day will certainly matter. Otherwise, there are no other requirements.
