Pokémon GO has announced a massive update which brings a wealth of changes to the app, including raising the level cap and seasonal changes.
Pokémon GO raises level cap and adds Gen 6 Pokémon in huge GO Beyond update

Pokémon GO’s level cap is set to be raised in a major new GO Beyond update, which also adds Gen 6 Pokémon from the Kalos region.

Starting from Monday 30th November, Pokémon GO will allow level 40 trainers to climb to level 50. Those who haven’t hit level 40 yet will also feel the new update’s affects, promising it’ll be easier to level up via adjustments to the way you can earn XP.

As the world changes seasons, the world of Pokémon GO will follow suit too - with each season every three months offering different Pokémon and different in-game events throughout the year and across the two separate hemispheres.

Each season will also provide new Mega-Evolved Pokémon in raids, while the GO Battle League will expand from 10 to 24 ranks with new rewards. The first season will begin on Tuesday 1st December at 8am local time.

The GO Beyond update also introduces Pokémon from the Kalos region (Generation 6) starting Wednesday 2nd December.

If that wasn’t enough, there’s a 12 Days of Friendship event kicking off today (18th November) offering a series of bonuses - including Friendship levels increasing faster than normal through opening gifts, trading Pokémon, or battling in raids.

The GO Beyond update feels like the cherry on top of what’s been an incredible year for Pokémon GO - which has continued to grow despite the coronavirus pandemic forcing people indoors.

Since the pandemic began, developer Niantic have implemented a number of changes to ensure people can still play indoors. With the GO Beyond update, it looks like there’ll be even more reason to keep coming back.
