Does Pokémon Legends: Arceus have EVs and IVs?

One of the more pressing questions about the latest game of the Pokémon franchise is regarding the long-lived Individual and Effort Value system and how it will be part of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Does Pokémon Legends: Arceus have EVs and IVs?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is the latest edition of the Japanese franchise developed by Game Freak which has fans railed up with several questions about starter Pokémons, maps and the IVs and EVs system, among others.

Of course, the game’s official website has given a tiny sample of the game’s look and feel with its 3D depiction of the Sinnoh region, but it was yet to be confirmed how the Pokémons will be trained and how we could measure and compare their abilities.

The Individual and Effort Values have been around for as long as we can remember but could it be possible that we could find a revamped structure this time around?

What are IVs and EVs in Pokémon games?

Let’s start at the beginning by understanding exactly what is the IVs/EVs system and how it plays an important role in your quest to become the best Pokémon trainer there is.

As we mentioned, the Individual and Effort Values have been part of the Pokémon games for a very long time, as the former will determine the stats of your Pokémon like its Power or its Stamina, while the latter is a performance bonus that could be the difference between defeat and victory and can affect your Speed of Special Attacks.

This was particularly important for Battle Tower or competitive players as the slightest stat difference was the needed edge to beat a certain trainer or a certain type of Pokémon.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus has replaced the IVs and EVs system with Effort Levels

For casual players, this system was relatively complicated to assimilate and it was not vital to finishing your adventure but this will change once the latest game hits the shelves.

The IVs/EVs dynamic will be replaced with the Effort Levels systemin Pokemon Legends: Arceus, that will allow players to build long-lasting relationships with their Pokémons instead of catching the same one multiple times in order to find the one with the right stats.

This synergy will mimic more precisely the relationships we see in the franchise’s anime or manga material where once we catch a Pokémon we train alongside them until they reach their maximum potential.

This will be achieved within the game with the help of “Grit” items, although we don’t have more information about them at the moment.
