Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Reveals Rideable Legendary Pokémon

The recent Pokémon Presents event gave us a closer look at Miraidon and Koraidon, the Legendary Pokémon that make their home in the Paldea region of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. But there's more than meets the eye when it comes to these two new legendaries, as the trailer reveals that they are rideable, yes you read that correctly.

So below we'll take a look at the details surrounding the reveal of these two Legendary Pokémon being rideable in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Along with how this mechanic will work in the game.

Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Reveals Rideable Legendary Pokémon

When traversing the lands of Paldea, Both Koraidon and Miraidon will allow players to mount them as living vehicles to travel across the region and explore the world around them. Both of them offer you the means of traversing land as living motorbikes, wading through the seas as boat-like vehicles, or taking to the skies with wings or propelled engines.

They can both also scale large land masses with their legs, making any terrain childsplay for these two Legendaries. Koraidon has three builds; Sprinting, Swimming, and Gliding build, and Miraidone has three functionally identical modes; Drive, Aquatic, and Glide modes, which only have different aesthetics for each Pokémon.

Having Pokémon with these varied means of transportation fits in perfectly with the announcement from The Pokémon Company, stating that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will focus on RPG elements. So traveling around, discovering new areas, collecting items, and battling Pokémon and Trainers will likely be a huge part of the gameplay, making either of these Legendaries extremely suited to your journey.

So when can we expect to receive either Koraidon or Miraidon in the game as you play? Well, the developers haven't officially stated when you'll be receiving them, but they will likely have a chance to be obtained in the mid-late game. It's possible they could be unlocked as a reward for reaching them, or as part of the narrative in the game, since up to that point you will likely have to make due with other methods of travel.

The Pokémon website does mention that each of the modes/builds is learned as you progress, so perhaps you receive them earlier on and have to teach them these abilities as you progress with them at your side. But for now, all we can do is speculate, and appreciate the cool factor of these two Legendary "Poké-vehicles."
