The trailer has revealed tons of new information regarding the game, with one of the most sought-after pieces of information being the Region name, which is now confirmed to be called the Paldea region.

Based on the trailer, players will be able to explore Paldea as they see fit, and while they can do the typical Pokémon quest of defeating the eight gym leaders and becoming the champion of the Paldea region. Players will also partake in a "Treasure Hunt" independent study project for their school.

As players venture throughout Paldea, they will also be interacting with the new gameplay mechanics and gimmicks that the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are unique for. A new mechanic involved is the use of the legendary Pokémon, Koraidon, and Miraidon in their "motorcycle" forms to traverse and explore the region, whether by land, sea, or sky.

Scarlet and Violet also see a new gimmick introduced called the Terestal phenomenon, which allows players to change the type of their Pokémon on the fly as they battle with them. These work by throwing a special Pokeball at your Pokémon during the battle that allows them to "terastallize" which buffers their moves and boosts their type.
