The Sims 4 is appealing to all the creative builders looking for that sprinkling of fairy dust in its latest expansion, Enchanted by Nature. Here, Sims can live off the land in a more magical capacity, learning to use what’s around them to satisfy their needs. Tending to plants, foraging for apothecary ingredients, and embracing all that is natural living is at the heart of this expansion. But it’s real draw comes via a brand new form a Sim can take: becoming a Fairy.
Fairy Sims can use the world as their playground, with a number of magical powers at their disposal. For one, Fairies can shrink themselves, using their new smaller form to play in a bookcase or splash around in the sink. These actions aren’t just for show, either. Splashing around in the sink allows for these Sims to fill their Hygiene meter slightly. Not only that, but filling the Hygiene meter has the chance to produce Fairy Dust, which can then be used for various magical purposes. Fairy Dust can enchant plants, or bring Gnomes to life to do your bidding.
The more Fairy things your Sim does, the more they progress through the Fairy experience tree, unlocking new abilities and perks as they play. But Fairy Sims have an important role in the wider Sim world. Fairies are able to interact with Occult Sims in a unique fashion, possessing the ability to soothe Werewolves or even cure Vampirism. But, for normal Sims, they’re able to absorb negative emotions, which plays into the expansion’s new Balance System.
In this pack, Sims can be in one of two states: Balanced or Imbalanced. When a Sim is Balanced, naturally they feel at peace in life, happily content with no strong feelings pulling them into unwanted directions. But, an Imbalanced Sim might feel a little differently. Imbalance happens when a Sim feels too many strong, negative emotions, which might occur when they experience certain events, such as the death if a loved one. Balance can be restored by taking care of plants, or consuming special elixirs brewed from the apothecary feature. But Fairy Sims can also absorb these negative emotions, helping Sims to restore Balance. However, it comes with risks. Fairies that absorb too many negative emotions can die of an emotional overload. For those that don’t want to deal with the added management that comes with the Balance system, the feature can be turned off in the settings, letting you play The Sims 4 as normal.
The Fairy form isn’t limited to just adult Sims. Toddlers and Infants can also be Fairies, though their powers won’t manifest until they’re Teens. However, Fairy children might sometimes have the “emotional struggles” moodlet, which stems from being unable to regulate their own emotions and in turn causes them to break surrounding objects. Older Fairies can be on hand to help them regulate these emotions better, minimising the damage.
The Enchanted by Nature expansion pack also pairs nicely with a few other expansions, such as the Cats & Dogs pack or Horse Ranch pack. With these, Fairy Sims will be able to ‘Nurture Nature’ by fulfilling animal needs and curing sick pets.
Outside of new features, interactions, and even new forms, Enchanted by Nature brings with it a number of stylised Build Mode items inspired by nature and all its magic. While some items are very much themed around that of a fairy glen or whimsy, others take on a more Celtic theme. Standout items include glass walls, which will be a must-have addition to any fairy-inspired Lot.
There’s seemingly a lot to take in with this latest Sims 4 expansion pack, appealing heavily to players who prefer a more fantasy approach to their gameplay. Pairing well with a number of pre-existing packs, Enchanted by Nature will likely be a must-have expansion for those looking to connect with nature, or flourish with a dash of fairy dust.
The Sims 4: Enchanted by Nature is available on July 10, 2025 via the EA app, Epic Games Store and Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
