Does Starfield Have DLSS 3 Support? Answered
Bethesda

PC gamers with capable NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards are wondering if Bethesda's open-world space RPG, Starfield, will have Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) support to get the best out of their gaming rig with either DLSS 2 or DLSS 3.

In this article, we explain if Starfield has DLSS 3 support at launch and, if not, how PC gamers can possibly get this fantastic upscaling tech to work with the game, so let's start those thrusters!

Update on 4 September 2023: You can now install the Starfield DLSS 3.5 mod!

Starfield DLSS 3 Support?

At launch, Starfield does not officially have DLSS 3 support according to datamines and leaks, or any DLSS for that matter. This is due to an exclusive partnership with AMD, which incorporates optimizations for AMD Ryzen CPUs and Radeon graphics cards. The game does support FSR 2, which can be used with NVIDIA graphics cards as well, but for GeForce RTX owners, DLSS has always been superior.

To be clear: No, Starfield does not feature DLSS 3 support.

However, some good news is on the horizon for PC gamers with NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards capable of taking full advantage of DLSS 2 or 3.

One of the best things about PC gaming is mod support, and we've got some good news to share. Modder PureDark, who has previously implemented DLSS support in Fallout 4, Skyrim and even Elden Ring, is on the case!

In a recent post by PureDark, he promises DLSS 3 support via a mod during the game's early access period. Therefore, we expect a DLSS 3 mod to be available on the official Starfield launch date of 6 September 2023, or even a bit earlier! PureDark explains:

But don’t you worry, you’ve got me. I’ll manage to get at least DLSS 3 support in the Early Access 5 Days, then slowly adding in an independent DLSS 2 implementation depending on the situation.

For those who don't know, DLSS 3 is for RTX 40-Series GPU owners that can provide a huge frame-rate boost, while DLSS 2 is for all GeForce RTX graphics cards.
