V Rising Castle Heart Decay - Effects and how to stop

V Rising is a new top-down survival adventure by Stunlock Studios. It's currently in early access and puts an interesting spin on the survival genre games you may be familiar with. One of V Rising's most interesting gameplay elements is the Castle Heart Decay.

Building and crafting are essential to any survival game, and V Rising is no different. You can build your home, aka a Castle, in V Rising, and it begins by putting together the Castle Heart.

However, your Castle's Heart is prone to outside attacks if you don't tend to it frequently. This phenomenon is called Castle Heart Decay, and here's our guide that explains its various effects alongside ways to prevent it.

V Rising Castle Heart Decay explained

Similar to your Vampire character, your Castle requires blood to stay alive. Blood is the fuel that will keep your Castle alive and running. Not supplying your Castle with Blood Essence will eventually drain its power, leading to Castle Decay.

Workstations like Furnaces, Sawmills, and Grinders are all powered by your Castle Heart, and they will stop functioning if you don't prevent Castle Decay. Once Castle Decay begins, your Castle Durability meter will start to decrease, thus making your Castle vulnerable to enemy attacks.

How to prevent Castle Heart Decay

To prevent Castle Decay, you must consistently provide your Castle Heart with Blood Essence. Upgrading the Castle will allow you to inject more Blood Essence to your Castle Heart at a time, thus delaying the time taken to Decay.

Thankfully, Castle Decay won't happen immediately, so you will have enough time in between to explore the game world, hunt resources, take down bosses, and complete missions before you scurry back to your Castle to inject fresh sets of Blood Essence into the Castle Heart.

Whenever your Castle starts to decay, you will get a notification on the right-hand side of the screen. Thus, you will know when it's time to return to the base. That's everything you need to know about Castle Decay in V Rising.
